摘要： A monitoring system for monitoring surroundings of a vehicle by displaying images taken by a plurality of cameras provided at the vehicle on a display apparatus provided in a vehicle compartment includes an image processing portion. The image processing portion includes a boundary-determining portion for determining a boundary of the neighboring images taken by the plurality of cameras for synthesizing the neighboring images in a horizontal direction by approximating the boundary to an exponential curve, a horizontally normalizing portion for normalizing the neighboring images in a horizontal direction so that the boundary approximated to the exponential curve is converted into a linear vertical boundary, a vertically compensating portion for compensating a vertical displacement between the neighboring images on the linear vertical boundary, and a pixel-adjusting portion for adjusting the number of pixels of the synthesized image to the number of pixels suitable for displaying the synthesized image produced by the image processing portion on the display apparatus.

摘要： A parking assist device includes a monitor (10) for displaying a captured image from a camera (12), assist information output means for providing assistance during introduction of a vehicle into a parking position, and correction control means (31) for correcting an inappropriate operation performed when the vehicle is introduced into the parking position. When a steering operation, an accelerator operation, or a brake operation is inappropriate, the correction control means (31) performs control to correct the travel course and the stop position. Thus, even if the driver performs an inappropriate operation when introducing the vehicle into the parking position, the driver can appropriately introduce the vehicle into the parking position according to the display on the monitor (10).

摘要： A distance measuring method and apparatus accurately detects point in time when reflected slit light passes a cell constituting an imaging plane. Each of the cells constituting the imaging plane includes a pair of photo-sensors disposed side by side along the direction of movement of the reflected slit light. A comparator compares photoelectric currents outputted from the pair of photo-sensors, and a point in time at which the reflected slit light moves from a first one to a second one of the photo-sensors of the cell is determined based on the output of the comparator. The point in time thus detected is determined as a point in time at which the reflected slit light passes the cell and is used for measurement of the distance to the subject for measurement.
