    摘要: A controller (or controller chip) providing reduced power consumption without impacting performance is disclosed. The controller monitors activity of components within the controller which require access to a local memory, and then decreases a clocking frequency for a memory interface to the local memory when the monitoring indicates that reduced amounts of activity are present. Following such a decrease in the clocking frequency, when increased amounts of activity are detected, the clocking frequency is increased for high performance operation. The controller thus tailors the clocking frequency for the memory interface in accordance with the amount of activity of these components that require access to the local memory so that overall less power is used by the controller yet the performance is essentially not hindered. In one embodiment, the controller is a graphics controller, as such controllers require access to local memories.

    摘要: A real time clock includes an oscillator, a digital counter, a temperature sensor, and a digital processor. The digital processor can read the temperature measured by the temperature sensor and utilize this information to generate an adjustment value for the digital counter. The digital counter is coupled to the digital processor and has an adjustment stage which the digital processor writes into in order to compensate for any oscillator error due to temperature variation. The digital processor may also be coupled to memory storing a temperature adjustment look-up table for use in generating the adjustment value. A method of the present invention includes the initial steps of generating an adjustment look-up table and storing it in non-volatile memory. A method of the present invention further includes the ongoing steps of measuring an ambient temperature, generating an adjustment value, adjusting the digital counter to improve the accuracy of the real time clock, and storing a new alarm time for a future adjustment.

    摘要: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed that incorporate chromatic sensors in a mouse to vary the operation of the mouse. Some embodiments may include a method of modifying the programming of a mouse that includes sampling, with the chromatic sensor, an optical property of a surface upon with the mouse is operating (such as color of the surface), and then dynamically modifying the programming of the mouse based upon the sampled optical property. In this manner, the operation of the mouse, such as tracking resolution, may be customized based upon the properties of the surface upon which the mouse is operating. Other embodiments may include utilizing the mouse with the chromatic sensor as a scanner to display images on a housing of the mouse.

At least one embodiment of the present invention seeks to perform color correction using color signals detected for the light passing through a diffuser. While typically software-based color correction methods rely on predetermined assumptions about the properties of an image, such as the averaged and/or profiled color information, at least one embodiment of the present invention utilizes the color signals for the light passing through a diffuser to determine the properties of the lightening environment. Instead of depending on the predetermined assumptions about the lightening environment or the image of the scene, at least one embodiment of the present invention performs the color correction according to the color information detected for the actual lightening environment.
