Abstract: A method and dispatch controller for assigning roles to responder units in a suspect pursuit. The method and controller include determining that the suspect pursuit is active and identifying a first responder unit as a pursuit unit to pursue the suspect. In response to a reevaluation trigger, the method and dispatch controller determine to reevaluate assignment of the pursuit unit. The reevaluation may occur, for example, when the pursuit unit is blocked by traffic or otherwise is separated from the suspect. Characteristic data is received regarding the responder units in response to the reevaluation trigger. The characteristic data is then evaluated to determine a suitability level of each of the responder units to be the pursuit unit. When the second responder unit has a higher suitability level than the first responder unit, the second responder unit is substituted as the pursuit unit.

Abstract: A method, device, and system for creating a communication group among a plurality of mobile communication devices. The method includes creating a first trigger condition, at a first mobile communication device, the first trigger condition including detection of a second mobile communication device in an area. A context data message that includes the first trigger condition and the area definition is sent by the first mobile communication device to a communication beacon having a range that includes the area. When the first trigger condition occurs and when the first mobile communication device is outside the area, receive a group call at the first mobile communication device from the second mobile communication device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for wirelessly transmitting data to be utilized at an incident area. A server computer defines a prioritized list of data items to be transmitted to a plurality of portable electronic devices for use at the incident area. The server computer predicts a first amount of data that can be wirelessly transferred to a first electronic device before loss of reliable wireless connectivity with the first electronic device and automatically selects a first data item for transmission to the first electronic device. The server computer then transmits the first data item to the first electronic device to be shared with at least one other portable electronic device of the plurality of electronic devices upon arrival of the first electronic device at the incident area.

Abstract: A process and device for responding to a query includes receiving, at an electronic computing device, a query for providing a response at a first communication device. The process further includes determining that the response to the query is to be provided as a group response to communication devices in the first communication group. When one or more of the communication devices do not have permission to receive the group response, the electronic computing device causes modification of the group response to generate a second response and provides the second response to at least one of the communication devices in the first communication group. Alternatively, the electronic computing device alters an output action and provides the group response to at least one of the communication devices in the first communication group in accordance with the altered output action.

Abstract: A system and method for a providing a dynamic backhaul. In one example, the system includes a self-positionable wireless device (for example, a drone) including a dual-band radio configured to establish a wireless connection between the self-positionable wireless device and a wireless system. The dual-band radio initiates a narrowband wireless link with the wireless system via a first narrowband antenna of the self-positionable wireless device and a second narrowband antenna of the wireless system. A navigation system generates location, velocity and error estimate of the self-positionable wireless device. The location is transmitted to the wireless system using the narrowband wireless link. The self-positionable wireless device receives via the narrowband wireless link location, velocity and error estimate of the wireless system. The self-positionable wireless device establishes a directional broadband wireless link with the wireless system using the location, velocity and error estimate of the self-positionable wireless system and the wireless system.
