摘要： A method of forming a polymer dispersion type liquid crystal display element having a polymer dispersion type liquid crystal sandwiched between a pair of substrates, each having an inside electrode, is disclosed. The droplets either are dispersed and held in a continuous matrix phase of the polymer or held in a three dimensional network of a matrix containing the polymer. In the method, the value of (V90×R/d is at least 0.7 where V90 is that voltage required for transmittance of a voltage-transmittance characteristic of the display element to be 90% when the element is at 30° C., d is the interval between the substrate pair, and R is the average particle size of the liquid crystal droplets. In the method, a liquid crystal polymer precursor compatible solution containing a liquid crystal and a polymer precursor placed between the substrate pair is held at a temperature greater than the thermal phase separation temperature of the precursor solution, which is irradiated with ultraviolet to permit phase separation of the liquid crystal and the polymer precursor.

摘要： An improved lubricating grease composition is herein disclosed, which comprises a base oil and a thickening agent, wherein the base oil comprises 50 to 100% by weight of a carbonate ester compound represented by the following general formula (I): R1O—CO—OR2 (I) wherein R1 and R2 each independently represents a saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched alkyl group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms, on the basis of the total weight of the base oil. The lubricating grease composition shows remarkably improved acoustic life and an improved frictional coefficient, as compared with those observed for conventional grease compositions.

摘要： An observation apparatus comprises an illuminating system for illuminating a material-to-be-observed, an elongated image transmitting member for fetching an image of the material-to-be-observed, and an image pickup device for picking up the image of the material-to-be-observed, which has been transmitted by the image transmitting member. The illuminating system is constituted such that illumination light having entered from an output end face of the image transmitting member into the image transmitting member may be irradiated to the material-to-be-observed through propagation inside of the image transmitting member. The slender portion containing the image transmitting member can thereby be made very thin and constituted as a cheap releasable unit, and a site to be observed can be illuminated accurately and efficiently.

摘要： A depth adjuster for a rotary tool such as a screwdriver having a tool bit projecting through a nose provided at the front end of the rotary tool. The depth adjustor comprises a locator sleeve mounted on the nose to project on the front end of the tool in such a manner as to surround the tool bit. The locator sleeve has an internal thread engaged with an external thread on the nose so as to be axially movable relative to the nose and the tool bit as the sleeve rotates about the nose. A lock ring is fitted on the nose to be rotatively fixed but axially movable relative thereto. The lock ring is biased towards the locator sleeve by a spring for locking engagement into the locator sleeve so as to rotatively fix the locator sleeve around the nose, whereby retaining the locator sleeve at a desired axial position relative to the nose. The engagement between the lock ring and the sleeve is such that, when the locator sleeve is forced to rotate about the nose, the lock ring moves axially rearwardly against the spring bias to disengage the locator sleeve from the lock ring, thereby permitting the locator sleeve to rotate freely from the lock ring for adjustment of an axial position of the sleeve relative to the nose. The spring is supported between the lock ring and a rear end of the locator sleeve so that the spring is received and concealed within the locator sleeve together with the lock ring.
