摘要: A method for analyzing a sample in a liquid is provided, which is suitable for easily and reliably preventing a liquid for analysis from being evaporated. When the sample in the liquid is observed by using a scanning probe microscope (SPM), a sealing liquid (17) immiscible with a liquid for analysis (16) is filled around the liquid for analysis (16), in which a sample (13) and a probe (15) are immersed, so as to form a sealing state, in which the liquid for analysis (16) is isolated from an external gas. The SPM enables the probe (15) disposed on a front end of a cantilever (14) to approach a surface of the sample (13) immersed in the liquid, scans the surface of the sample, and detects an interaction between the sample (13) and the probe (15), thereby generating an image.

摘要: The ultraviolet short-pulse laser light emitted from the ultraviolet short-pulse laser light source 1 is focused on and caused to irradiate a macromolecular crystal 8 contained in a sample container 6 via a shutter 2, intensity adjusting element 3, irradiation position control mechanism 4, and focusing optical system 5. The sample container 6 is carried on a stage 7, and can be moved in three dimensions along the directions of the x, y and z axes in an x-y-z orthogonal coordinate system with the direction of the optical axis being taken as the z axis; furthermore, the sample container 6 can be rotated about the z axis. Working of the macromolecular crystal is performed by means of ultraviolet short-pulse laser light that is focused on and caused to irradiate the surface of the macromolecular crystal 8. In this way, various types of working can be securely performed on macromolecular crystals with little damage and by means of a simple operation.

摘要: A system for delivering contents automatically has first and second signal-selecting-and-delivering devices each for selecting a contents-signal from the contents-signals each having any of first and second formats of contents-signal and delivering the selected contents-signal having each of the first and second formats. It also has a signal-supplying device that supplies the contents-signals having the first and second formats to the first and second signal-selecting-and-delivering devices, respectively, and a signal-converting device that converts the contents-signal having the first format into the contents-signal having the second format and supplies the converted contents-signal having the second format to the second signal-selecting-and-delivering device. It further has a control device that controls the signal-supplying device and the first and second signal-selecting-and-delivering devices to allow the first and second signal-selecting-and-delivering devices to deliver the contents-signals having each of the first and second formats, based on a predetermined delivery schedule of the contents.

摘要: It is intended to provide a model animal faithfully reproducing the pathogenic conditions of spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy, a method of screening a remedy for polyglutamine disease using the same, and a remedy for spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy. Namely, a nonhuman animal having the following characteristics (1) to (5) in its conditions or pathological findings: (1) showing progressive myoatrophy; (2) showing lowering in muscular power; (3) in immunostaining with the use of an anti-polyglutamine antibody, showing nuclear diffuse staining and nuclear inclusions; (4) in immunostaining with the use of an anti-androgen receptor antibody, showing nuclear diffuse staining and nuclear inclusions; and (5) showing a neurogenic change. A remedy for polyglutamine disease is screened by administering a test substance to this nonhuman animal and examining changes in its conditions or pathological findings. A remedy for spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy is prepared by using as the active ingredient a compound having an effect of inhibiting the secretion of testosterone.

摘要: An application process unit executes a predetermined application program and a communication process unit performs a predetermined data communication process with another communication target. A communication stop determination unit determines whether or not to stop the data communication process performed by the communication process unit, on the basis of an instruction from the application process unit. When it is determined by the communication stop determination unit to stop the data communication process, the data communication process is stopped.
