Abstract: A stereolithography method of manufacture of a polymer structure having a spatially gradient dielectric constant, including: providing a volume of a liquid, radiation-curable composition; irradiating a portion of the liquid, radiation-curable composition with activating radiation in a pattern to form a layer of the polymer structure; contacting the layer with the liquid, radiation-curable composition; irradiating the liquid, radiation-curable composition with activating radiation in a pattern to form a second layer on the first layer; and repeating the contacting and irradiating to form the polymer structure, wherein the polymer structure comprises a plurality of unit cells wherein each unit cell is integrally connected with an adjacent unit cell, each unit cell is defined by a plurality of trusses formed by the irradiation, wherein the trusses are integrally connected with each other at their respective ends, and the trusses of each unit cell are dimensioned to provide the spatially gradient dielectric constant.

Abstract: A method for the manufacture of a polymer foam composite includes forming a polymer foam that is at least partially uncured; contacting the formed polymer foam with a fibrous mat including a plurality of nonwoven fibers having an average diameter of 100 um or less under conditions effective to infiltrate a portion of the polymer foam into the mat, to provide a pre-composite; and curing the pre-composite to form the polymer foam composite. The pre-composite includes a polymer foam layer and an intermixed layer including the fibrous mat and the same polymer as the polymer of the polymer foam layer. The polymer foam composite includes a cured polymer foam layer and an intermixed layer integrally bonded to the first layer, wherein the intermixed layer includes the fibrous mat and a cured polymer the same as the polymer of the cured polymer foam layer.

Abstract: A sensor apparatus includes a first of a plurality of layers having a top layer, a bottom layer, and at least one intermediate layer having an electrical conductor layer, each of the top layer, the bottom layer, and the at least one intermediate layer is disposed in direct contact with a respective adjacent layer. A second of the plurality of layers is disposed in direct contact with the first plurality of layers such that the bottom layer of the second plurality of layers is disposed in direct contact with the top layer of the first plurality of layers. The first and second plurality of layers are productive of a piezoelectric voltage absent of an external current producing device and in response to being deformed, and are productive of a change in capacitance in response to being deformed.

Abstract: A method of making a dielectric, Dk, electromagnetic, EM, structure, includes: providing a first mold portion comprising substantially identical ones of a first plurality of recesses arranged in an array; filling the first plurality of recesses with a curable first Dk composition having a first average dielectric constant greater than that of air after full cure; placing a substrate on top of and across multiple ones of the first plurality of recesses filled with the first Dk composition, and at least partially curing the curable first Dk composition; and, removing the substrate with the at least partially cured first Dk composition from the first mold portion, resulting in an assembly having the substrate and a plurality of Dk forms including the at least partially cured first Dk composition, each of the plurality of Dk forms having a three dimensional, 3D, shape defined by corresponding ones of the first plurality of recesses.
