    Abstract: A method for making replacement grouser bars particularly contoured to fit rock worn grouser shoes from blanks cut from inexpensive sheet metal. The blank has a straight lower edge and a curved upper edge such that the bar is thicker at the ends than in the middle. The straight lower edge is easily double beveled and the blank is reverse forged to obtain a finished grouser bar having a straight upper edge and a curved lower edge, the bar still being thicker at the ends than in the middle.

    Abstract: A method for removing impurities (e.g., atomic sulfur) from a reticle for use in photolithography is provided. In one embodiment, a reticle (or photomask) comprising a plate, a first layer over the plate, and a photoresist layer over the first layer is provided. The photoresist layer is removed with a first chemistry comprising a sulfur-containing compound. At least a portion of the first layer is removed with a second chemistry comprising a sulfur-containing etchant, thereby exposing portions of the plate. Removing the photoresist layer and/or at least a portion of the first layer leaves sulfur on at least portions of the reticle. In a cleaning step, the reticle is contacted with one or more excited species of oxygen to remove residual sulfur and other contaminants, such as carbon, sulfur and oxygen-containing species. Methods of embodiments can be used to clean, e.g., binary photomasks, attenuated phase shift masks (APSMs) and high transmission attenuated photomasks.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, a bus controller for connecting a device to an Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C) bus includes fault tolerance features. The I2C bus controller may support fail silent, cyclic redundancy check (CRC), and byte count check operations. The I2C bus controller may include a control unit connected to an I2C core module having a base address. The I2C bus controller may also include a second I2C core module having a base address plus one (BP1). The I2C bus controller may also include a mute timer that countdowns a mute timeout period. This mute timer may be reset upon receiving a fail silent test message sent by a master on the I2C bus in slave mode, or, in the master mode, from itself through the BP1 I2C core module. If the mute timeout period expires, the control unit may disable the I2C bus controller from transmitting on the I2C bus. The control unit may format CRC values and byte count values into messages, and include a byte counter to compare actual bytes received to the expected byte count indicated by a received byte count value.

    Abstract: An electronically controlled, pneumatically actuated pumping system is provided that is especially designed for the precision dispensing of liquids. The system includes a positively actuated inlet valve, and a small-diameter, long-stroke pumping piston that is physically stopped at each end of its stroke. The unique inlet valve and piston enable the system to repetitively dispense metered volumes of fluid at better than one tenth of one percent accuracy. A unique calibration mechanism and detachable dispensing head allow for the rapid disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of the system. An alternative embodiment of the pumping system incorporates a plurality of dispensing nozzles controlled by a single inlet valve and pumping piston combination. The dispensing unit may be shiftably mounted on a vertically oriented stand, and may be automatically shifted upwardly as fluid is dispensed to minimize splashing and atomizing of the dispensed fluid.
