Abstract:
A navigation apparatus comprises a map display control unit that displays a map on a display monitor, a voice information outputting unit that outputs voice information related to traveling of a vehicle, and a highlighting unit that highlights a part of the map that corresponds to the voice information in synchronization with output of the voice information by the voice information outputting unit.
Abstract:
A controller of a navigation terminal (navigation apparatus) is configured to find a plurality of paths from a current position of a vehicle and a destination based on a plurality of different and prioritized path-finding conditions, respectively, and causes a display to show the plurality of paths which includes a navigating path found on the basis of a top-priority path-finding condition and at least one alternative path found on the other path-finding condition(s). In response to detection of deviation of the vehicle, the priority assigned to a path-finding condition based on which a specific alternative path along which the vehicle is running is changed into a top priority, and path-finding operation is performed again for paths from the current position of the vehicle to the destination to show a new navigating path and at least one new alternative path in the display.
Abstract:
For interactive operation between different enterprises or organizations, it is necessary to provide high-quality map information by not only displaying the results of retrieval from the map information servers of those organizations in a superimposed manner but also performing distributed retrieval on the basis of a relationship matched in sense between the servers. Thus, an interface is provided in which the optimum relationships between objects provided from the map servers distributed on the Internet environment and objects defined by a desired application are generated and a work of confirmation and modification by a user can easily be done. Thereby, a cost required for a complicated relating procedure indispensable to an interactive operating system is reduced.
Abstract:
In each of the divided regions of the map, a redundancy of the region is estimated from the characteristics quantity such as fractal dimension of line segments of road. Then, regions with the same redundancies are combined to form a larger area so that the map is divided according to the redundancy. The areas thus formed are summarized by the summarization methods conforming to their redundancies and are combined into one map. In the map thus generated, only necessary information can be presented, with redundant information eliminated.
Abstract:
The on-vehicle information terminal according to the present invention comprises an abridged road generating device that generates abridged roads by abridging a road map based upon map data, a road decision-making device that makes a decision as to whether or not a road is a special shape road having a predetermined special shape based upon the map data, a substituting device for substitutes a specific road shape pattern stored in memory in advance for a road determined by the road decision-making device to have a special shape and a display control device that displays at the display device an abridged map containing specific road shape patterns used to substitute for special shape roads by the substituting device and the abridged roads generated by the abridged road generating device.
Abstract:
A semiconductor memory includes a word line driving circuit whose output terminal is coupled to one end of each word line of a memory array, and also an auxiliary driving circuit which drives the other end of the word line upon receiving a selection signal transmitted to the other end of this word line. The auxiliary driving circuit comprises a level detector circuit which is dynamically driven by a timing signal, and a driving element which is driven by an output of the level detector circuit to drive the other end of the word line. When the word line is to be reset, the output of the level detector circuit is set at a level which brings the driving element into an "off" state. The auxiliary driving circuit of this arrangement permits the other end of the word line to change to a selection level quickly and to be reset quickly.

Abstract:
A magnetic recording medium, obtained by preparing a radiation-sensitive curing resin by modification of a copolymer of (A) vinyl chloride, (B) a vinyl carboxylate, (C) an unsaturated carboxylic acid and (D) an unsaturated carboxylic anhydride, containing 50 to 80% by weight of (A) based on the total of (A) and (B), 10 to 30% by weight of (D) based on the total of (C) and (D) and a total of 1 to 5 parts by weight of (C) and (D) based on 100 parts by weight of (A) and (B) and having an average polymerization degree of 100 of 400, and a magnetic powder thereby producing a magnetic paint, applying said magnetic paint to a non-magnetic substrate, and solidifying the resultant coating of paint on said substrate by exposure to radiation.
Abstract:
An alternative method for efficiently producing lactic acids from a carbohydrate-containing raw material such as cellulose is provided. The method for producing lactic acid and/or lactic acid ester comprises performing heat treatment on a carbohydrate-containing raw material in a solvent containing a catalyst, wherein the catalyst is at least one type of compound selected from the group consisting of a tin compound, an indium compound, and a rhenium compound, and the solvent contains water and/or alcohol.
