Abstract:
A roller-conveyor roll for the transport of furnace-heated metallic strip or a continuously cast steel strand has a shaft extending along an axis, a tubular shell coaxially surrounding the roller shaft and having a pair of axially spaced ends, and a respective insulating body at each of the shell ends between the respective shell and the shaft and angularly fixed to the shell and to the shaft for transmitting torque between the shaft and the shell ends. The body electrically and thermally insulates the shell from the shaft.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a continuous casting mold, in particular a thin slab mold in which the flow of a liquid metal in the mold is influenced by a magnetic field generated by permanent magnets, wherein the permanent magnets have, over the width and/or height thereof, different magnetic strengths or are spaced from each other by different distances for a different field strength, so that to provide for variation of the magnetic field strength, the permanent magnets are differently adjusted in groups for changing a field strength distribution.
Abstract:
A device for loading the guide surfaces of bearing chocks (LS) supported in the housing windows (SF) of rolling stands with pressure plates (DP) that can be placed on the guide surfaces and that can be loaded by a hydraulic piston (K) supported in the rolling stand housings (ST), wherein devices for measuring the pressure and devices (WM) for measuring the displacement of the piston are assigned to the hydraulic piston (K), and wherein the frictional force is eliminated by adjusting well-defined clearances between the bearing chocks (LS) and the guide surfaces.
Abstract:
A rolling mill (1) for rolling a metal workpiece (2) that is provided with at least one roll stand (3) as well as with a conveyor (4) for the material to be rolled (2) extending on both sides of the roll stand (3) for a predetermined length (L) is based on the object that in the area of the longitudinal extent of the conveyor (4) at least one holder (5) for a coil (6) of the metal workpiece (2) is provided that can be positioned in a first position (A) in which it does not disturb the transport of the metal workpiece (2) along the conveyor (4) and that can be positioned in a second position (B) in which the coil (6) is positioned close to the roll stand (3) on the conveyor (4) for unwinding or winding up the coil (6).
Abstract:
Steel strip issues continuously from a downstream end of a rolling line and can be wound up there on a coiler. An inspection table downstream of the rolling line has a surface aligned with the downstream end and the strip emerging therefrom. The coiler is below a plane of the table surface. During normal rolling the strip is deflected downward to the coiler and reeled up. For inspection of the strip, the strip is cut transversely to produce a new leading end and is fed starting at this end toward the table without substantial deflection. Then the strip is cut again upstream of the new leading end to form a strip sample separate from the strip emerging from the rolling line, which sample is fed to the table and arrested and inspected while strip emerging from the line is deflected back down to the coiler to continue coiling it up.
Abstract:
A roll stub is rotatable relative to a stationary support and has a rotatable support fixed to the roll stub, an annular and radially directed seal surface fixed on one of the supports, and a seal ring on the other of the supports having a lip engageable with the seal surface. A support element that is substantially less stiff than the seal ring is provided between the other support and the seal ring for biasing the lip against the seal surface while permitting of the seal ring relative to the other support. A clamp body rotationally fixed to the other support directly engages the seal ring and presses the seal ring directly against an abutment. Interengaging tooth formations on the clamp body and on the seal ring arrest the seal ring on the other support against angular movement thereon while permitting relative radial movement.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a continuous casting mould for liquid metals, especially for liquid steel, comprising steel charging plates (2) which are surrounded by water reservoirs (1), cassette-type copper plates (3) arranged against the same, end plates (7), if needed, for the thickness and/or the width of the cast billet, and coolant channels (9). The aim of the invention is to take measures to counteract the high temperatures in the meniscus region (13) using appropriate embodiments of the copper plates (3) and/or the steel charging plates (2). To this end, the thickness (10) of the copper plates (3) between the coolant (11) and the hot side (3a) of the copper plates varies along the width (2×L) and/or in terms of the height (12).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for hot dip coating metal strands (1), particularly strip steel, in which the metal strand (1) can be vertically guided through a reservoir (3), which accommodates the molten coating metal (2), and though a guide channel (4) connected upstream therefrom. An electromagnetic inductor (5) is mounted in the area of the guide channel (4) and in order to retain the coating metal (2) inside the reservoir (3), can induce induction currents in the coating metal (2) by means of an electromagnetic blocking field. While interacting with the electromagnetic blocking field, said induction currents exert an electromagnetic force. In order to prevent an intense heating of the metal strand caused by the electromagnetic inductor, the invention provides that the inductor (5, 5a, 5b) is connected to electric power supply means (6) that supply the inductor with an alternating current whose frequency (f) is less than 500 Hz. In particular, a mains frequency of 50 Hz is intended.
Abstract:
A rolling mill frame for the rolling of different rolled stock which requires different rolling forces and which has working rolls, back-up rolls, optionally a roll being device for the working rolls and optionally a device for adjusting and balancing the back-up rolls. The mill has pairs of adjusting cylinders between the roll stand and the chocks of the rolls which avoid large friction losses. The adjusting cylinders are each comprised of a telescoping cylinder in which a first cylinder with a large diameter for high rolling forces and a concentric cylinder with smaller diameter for smaller rolling forces are provided.
