    摘要： A continuous distillation process for recovering ethylene from an ethane-ethylene mixture containing small quantities of soluble water whereby hydrate formation is prevented in the distillation zone by removing a side draw at a point in the distillation zone where the dissolved water concentration is substantially at a maximum, passing this side draw through a drying zone to substantially remove the contained water, and returning the dried side draw to the distillation zone. The water concentration in the distillation zone is thus controlled and maintained below the level at which hydrate formation occurs.

    摘要： Apparatus anchored at an offshore location for loading or unloading fluids, such as oil, etc., from a ship, such as a tanker, while said ship is anchored to the apparatus. The apparatus has a long and slender buoy body thereby offering less resistance to forces associated with rough water. A mooring line reel is provided on the apparatus for containing an anchor line used to connect to a ship. A hose reel is provided on the apparatus for containing an unloading hose when not in use. Counterweights are mounted in the apparatus and operatively connected to the mooring line and hose reels for exerting a constant tension thereon so that the mooring line and hose reels are automatically returned to a stored position on the apparatus when disconnected from a ship.

    摘要： An improved process for the production of a methane-rich town gas is described wherein the hot gaseous product of the partial combustion of a carbonaceous fuel is passed into a carbureting zone at a temperature of from about 650* to about 1100*C and therein enriched with a volatile hydrocarbon carburant which on evaporation into the gaseous product of partial combustion is thermally cracked to form lower molecular weight hydrocarbons including methane gas. In this process the methane content of the carbureted gas is substantially increased and the formation of soot and coke during cracking of the hydrocarbon fraction in the carburetor is suppressed by mixing the hot gaseous product of partial combustion with a cool hydrogen-containing gas to cool the hot gas product to a temperature in the range described, prior to carburetion with the volatile hydrocarbon carburant.

    摘要： A system is disclosed for preventing gasoline vapors contained in air vented from gasoline storage tanks from entering the atmosphere, which includes a conduit to pass gasoline vapor-laden air to a bed of adsorbent for gasoline and, when the adsorbent approaches saturation, subjecting it to back-flushing, with or without heat, to an extent and for a time adequate to remove enough gasoline from the adsorbent to restore it to a regenerated condition, and incinerating the gasoline removed from the adsorbent bed. It is also disclosed to employ two separate collection systems, one including a vessel for storing gasoline vapor-rich air and the other for passing vapor-laden air through an adsorbent bed and employing the vapor-rich air as a supplemental fuel to maintain combustion in an incinerator when insufficient gasoline is contained in the air used to backwash and regenerate the adsorbent bed to support combustion.
