    Abstract: A device for treating samples in sample containers under vacuum comprises a housing, a vacuum chamber arranged in the housing and interacting with a vacuum pump, a cover via which the vacuum chamber is closed in vacuum-tight manner and opened to load and unload sample containers, a sample holder with a base surface and a plurality of sample container receptacles for receiving sample containers. A sample holder axis runs perpendicular to the base surface of the sample holder, a drive unit mounted in the vacuum chamber and connected to the sample holder drives the sample holder about the sample holder axis, and a drive mechanism is arranged outside the vacuum chamber and drivingly coupled to the drive unit.
