Abstract:
A hydraulic machine-has a rotating group located within a housing and a port plate to control flow from the barrel of the rotating group to inlet and outlet ports. The port plate is sealed against one of the housing or barrel and sleeves extend between the other of the housing or barrel to accommodate misalignment between the barrel and housing as the barrel rotates.
Abstract:
A method of producing a ball-and-socket joint (1) between a slipper (3) and a piston (2) of a piston engine, which includes configuring the slipper (3) with a joint ball (4) at an end opposite a bottom surface (21); configuring the piston (2) with an overmeasure (x) on a lateral surface (2c), providing a hemispherical joint recess (5) with a recess edge (7) that protrudes beyond the maximum diameter (6) of the joint recess (5) for receiving the joint ball (4) and bringing together the joint recess (5) and the joint ball (4), and hot-beading the recess edge (7) into a form in which it grips the joint ball (4). Also provided is a joint formed by the foregoing method.
Abstract:
In this pump, each sealing ring (14) of the piston (2) consists of two juxtaposed elementary rings (19A, 19B), the gaps of which are straight or angled and are offset, when fitting them, 180null with respect to one another, and of a common expander (21), and the elementary rings are made of a composite which contains more than 50% bronze and about 5% molybdenum disulphide, the rest being PTFE. Application to continuously operating variable-capacity pumping of liquid nitrogen at pressures of 850 bar or more.
Abstract:
An improved axial-piston energy converting device is provided by utilizing a thin ceramic wear plate insert, having a typical thickness of only about 0.005 to 0.040 inches in thickness, as a cam surface secured by atmospheric pressure to an underlying support surface of a steel cam plate support structure. Attachment of the wear plate to the cam plate supporting surface is accomplished by polishing both a supporting surface of the cam plate, and a mating surface of the wear plate to a very smooth finish, and wiping a thin film of a fluid such as oil onto one of the polished surfaces prior to placing the wear plate onto the supporting surface. The highly polished, together with the light film of oil, result in a joint that is essentially air tight. Atmospheric pressure acting on the cam surface of the wear plate serves to hold the wear plate tightly in place on the support surface in the same manner that a pair of Johansson blocks are held together if their highly polished surfaces are mated.
Abstract:
A cylinder and piston construction for a compressor or vacuum pump has a cylinder defined by co-axial cylinder and guideway sleeves. The guideway sleeve is larger in diameter than the cylinder sleeve and the cylinder sleeve extends axially into the guideway sleeve. A piston has a cylindrical base which is guided via skirt bearings in the guideway and a head which extends from the base into the compression chamber defined by the cylinder sleeve and has a piston ring which forms a sliding seal with the cylinder sleeve. An annular cavity is defined between the piston head and the piston base into which the cylinder sleeve extends so that the top skirt bearing is positioned closer to the top of the piston head and further away from the bottom skirt bearing so as to steadily guide the piston head in the cylinder sleeve, thereby reducing wear and increasing the life of the pump.
Abstract:
A swash plate type automotive air conditioning compressor that minimizes part count while providing a more robust and improved operation. A large diameter, single slotted ball located in a matching socket in each piston overlies the outer edge of the swash plate. As the plate turns, the sides of the plate rub along the sides of the ball slot, and the ball twists within the socket, reciprocating the piston. The larger diameter surfaces of ball and socket are easier to machine accurately, and part count is reduced to a minimum. The larger contacting surface areas provide for better lubrication and lower pressure loading.
Abstract:
In an in-tank type motor-operated pump having a brush motor (1), a bearing (15) for rotatably holding a rotor shaft (5) is covered with a heat resistant insulating material (25) and is mounted in a bracket (22) in which brushes (4) are slidably held, thereby preventing an accidental shortcircuit between brushes (4) via the bearing (15) at the time when the bracket (22) melts with heat.
Abstract:
In an axial piston machine of the swashplate or bent axis type having slot control and a pressure balancing passage at the inlet end of the high pressure (HP) control slot, erosion caused by the jet of the pressure balancing passage is prevented by providing at the inlet end of the HP-control slot an interference jet passage starting from the high pressure whose opening is arranged so that the directions of flow of the pressure balancing passage and the outlet of the interference jet passage intersect.
Abstract:
A direct suction hermetic compressor assembly is disclosed including a hermetically sealed housing having enclosed therein a compressor mechanism discharging compressed gas refrigerant into the interior of the housing, thereby creating a high pressure housing. The compressor mechanism includes a crankcase defining a suction cavity into which low pressure suction gas is directly introduced. Bearings in the crankcase communicate between the housing interior and the suction cavity, and rotatably support a crankshaft. Annular seals received within grooves in the crankshaft bear against the bearings and are actuated and lubricated by oil fed from within the grooves to prevent high to low pressure gas leakage and to facilitate bearing lubrication. A scotch yoke mechanism operably couples a plurality of radially disposed pistons to a crankshaft eccentric portion within the suction cavity. Oil ducts open onto the loaded surface of the eccentric to limit oil leakage into the suction cavity.
