Method and apparatus for effecting a voice communication between user terminals connected via a communication network include displaying a menu of country options to a user and receiving a number in local form. Formatting rules are recalled for a destination country selected by the user from the country options. A country prefix for the destination country is prepended to the number in accordance with the formatting rules to generate a formatted number. The formatted number is supplied to a client installed at the user terminal for effecting the voice communication using the formatted number.
Abstract:
A system is described that includes a keyboard and a computing device running telecommunications management software in connection with a call control facility through wide area data network. The keyboard includes a plurality of dedicated telephone control input devices which correspond to an advanced telephony feature provided through the telecommunications management software. A device driver within the computing device allows operation of the dedicated telephone control input devices to be detected and associated functions of the telecommunications management software to be executed.

In order to realize notification of an incoming call at a client terminal utilizing an existing extension switch system, an exchange of the extension switch system is linked with a server of client terminals such that notification of an incoming call to an extension is made also at a client terminal. Further, whether an incoming call to a client terminal is permitted or not can be changed depending on whether the client terminal is in a log-in state or not. Still further, notification of an incoming call to a client terminal is made by reproducing an audio file or the like to realize a flexible extension call. Further, a response to an incoming call at a client terminal is managed by a timer such that, in case of time out, an ordinary extension rings. Still further, the server is made to have alternative recipient information such that notification of an incoming call is transferred via the server.
Abstract:
A computer connected to an ISDN switch via an ISDN digital subscriber line, provides management information regarding activities of a plurality of telephone agents. The computer has shared call appearances with a number of telephone agent stations and receives shared call appearance associated messages from the switch reflecting call handling messages exchanged between the ISDN switch and each of the agent stations. The messages are interpreted by the computer which generates station status information and management information such as the number of calls handled, average holding time per call, etc. The computer may be connected simultaneously to several central offices via ISDN subscriber lines and generate management information for a group of geographically separated agents, such as home telemarketing agents operating out of their individual homes and connected to different central offices.

A test circuit arrangement for testing computer-controlled communications switching systems each having a central network and a central processor unit, as well as subscriber sets and/or line sets connectable to the network for analog and/or digital information transmission. These subscriber sets and/or line sets are in communication with the central processor unit under the control of a group processor unit adapted to the plurality of subscriber sets and/or line sets. A communications switching system to be tested is connected to a line trunk group configuration composed of subscriber and line sets, manual switching position and digital stations and is function-tested with a personal computer unit connectable via the group processor.

Example implementations relate to powering a keyboard using power received via a secondary coil. For example, an apparatus includes a support member to support a part of a portable computing device in a tilted orientation. The support member includes a secondary coil to receive power from a primary coil in the portable computing device. The apparatus also includes a base member connected to the support member. The base member includes a first wireless module to receive a first portion of the power from the secondary coil and to communicate with a second wireless module in the portable computing device. The base member also includes a keyboard to receive a second portion of the power from the secondary coil and to generate signals to transmit to the portable computing device via the first wireless module.

Abstract:
In conventional testing, the user is using an on-hand computing device to control testing; however, for the present invention the user is at the access point and the computer is remote, e.g. nearby or in the technician's vehicle, and not being used by the user to run the tests. The present invention provides a means to conveniently connect a customer provided network access device, e.g. a USB “dongle” modem, via a wireless link to the remote computer, which is providing the test application. The computer is remote, and the remote module device extends the reach of the commercial dongle modem so it is not necessary to carry the computer to the test access point.
