摘要: A battery operated device includes a circuit connecting a DC motor (22) and a battery (9) made up of a plurality of cells (10, 11, 12) connected in series with a two-pole switch device (23) including a first switch (24) and a second switch (25). The DC motor (22) receives a lower battery voltage from an intermediate tap (17) of the battery through a first switch (24) and it receives the full battery voltage through an end tap (15) when the second switch (25) is closed so that the motor can be operated at two speeds. Further, elements are provided for preventing a short circuit between the intermediate tap (17) and the end tap (15) of the battery (9) when the second switch (25) is closed. As a result of this switching arrangement, an extensively interrupted-switching is available, so that practically no power lapses occur when switching over from one speed to the other.

摘要: A method of control and a control circuit for use in connecting all or sub-parts of a battery supply to a battery driven motor includes relays connected between a motor and each sub-part of a battery supply; a timer having a predetermined time period and which changes its output condition at the end of each time period; a motor speed selector for selecting either full motor speed or a portion thereof; and a switch arrangement which interconnects the relays, timer and motor speed selector. The switch arrangement provides for a first sub-part of the battery supply to be connected to the motor when the selector is in a less than full speed position and when the timer has one output condition. A second sub-part of the battery supply is connected to the motor when the selector is in a less than full speed position and the timer has a second output condition. The relays connect the full battery supply to the motor when the selector is in a full speed position.

摘要: In order to drive an electrically operated vehicle provided with an electric drive motor supplied with energy by a plurality of rechargeable batteries carried by the vehicle, in a manner to achieve high electric power utilization efficiency, the feed voltage for the driving motor is increased in steps by successive connection of a progressively increasing number of batteries in series with the driving motor, a load-dependent steady state of the motor corresponding to each feed voltage and to a constant rate of motor rotation, and the batteries are switched to provide a lower feed voltage when the motor, and thus also the vehicle, has achieved a selected steady state, at which time the driving motor, due to the dynamic inertia of the moving vehicle, acts as a generator which changes the batteries until the voltage generated by the motor acting as a generator drops to the lower feed voltage value, whereby a large portion of the energy used for propelling the vehicle is recovered.

摘要: A switch for speed control of an electric motor driven vehicle employs a combination of resistance switching, field weakening and voltage switching. A mechanical switch assembly has a speed switch and a voltage switch that are interconnected so that the voltage switch provides 36 volts when the speed switch is in neutral and fifth speed position and provides 18 volts when the speed switch is in first through fourth speed positions. The speed switch has an operator controlled rotor arm that successively engages a neutral contact and five driving speed contacts so that varying resistance is inserted in circuit with the motor armature in the first two speed positions and no external resistance is employed in the third and fifth speed positions. The motor field comprises pairs of first and second oppositely disposed series wound coils with the pairs of coils all connected and energized in series in all but the fourth speed position. In the fourth speed position one pair of oppositely disposed field coils is completely disconnected while the other pair is energized to provide a higher speed at the lower voltage and a better transition between low and high voltage driving speeds.

摘要: Open-loop means for controlling the speed of a d.c. motor controlled print head moving across a document. A switch couples a first voltage to the d.c. motor to accelerate the print head in a first direction. When the print head reaches the desired velocity, the first voltage is decoupled from the motor and a highly regulated voltage is coupled to the d.c. motor to move the print head at the desired velocity. The switch reverses the voltage polarity at the input terminals of the d.c. motor to decelerate the print head, accelerate it in the opposite direction and maintain the desired velocity as it moves in the reverse direction. Logic means detects the direction of carriage movement and connects the first voltage to the d.c. motor for an interval sufficient to bring the d.c. motor to the desired speed in the shortest practical interval. The second voltage maintains the constant speed until the print head reaches the end of the line. At the end of a line, the logic means reverses the polarity to the motor and reapplies the first voltage for the same interval initially required for acceleration, decelerate and halt the print head, or alternatively applies the opposite polarity first voltage for twice said time interval to being the motor to constant speed in the reverse direction in the shortest practical interval.The acceleration voltage for carriage return is applied for a shorter interval if less than a full line is printed, to prevent damage due to excessive acceleration.
