Abstract:
A spa heats or cools air in the air space surrounding the water containment vessel to heat or cool the water in the water containment vessel. The air is heated and cooled and is circulated within the spa cabinet in contact with the underside of the tub and the plumbing for transferring or absorbing heat from the water through the tub and the plumbing. The air is heated by a solid state thermoelectric device or a conventional space heater and is cooled using a solid state thermoelectric device. Preferably a single thermoelectric device is mounted through a wall in the spa cabinet and is used for both heating and cooling the air in the air space.
Abstract:
Described is an exercise tool. More particularly, it is a therapy and exercise tool specifically devised as a foot-therapy and toe-aligning device to align, separate, and stretch toes. The foot-therapy and toe-aligning device comprises a frame with a plurality of posts connected with the frame. The device is formed of an elastic material such that a user may place at least one of the plurality of posts between a user's toes and pull the post to stretch and elongate the post between the toes. Upon release, the elastic material of the post causes the post to attempt to return to its original shape, thereby causing it to expand out and conform its shape to fit snugly against the user's toes. Additionally, the elastic material allows the toe posts to be positioned and maintained at numerous locations between the user's toes for customizable positioning between the toes.
Abstract:
A cooling and/or heating system is provided that may include an air conditioning and heat pump assembly (refrigerant-based) housed within an enclosure. Ducts are provided to deliver air cooled by the air conditioning unit or air heated by the heat pump to one or more users positioned in the enclosure. A reversing valve is provided for directing the flow of pressurized refrigerant to one of the condenser and evaporator. When operated in heating mode, the refrigerant flow is reversed by the reversing valve and heated air is delivered through the same duct work. The air conditioning and/or heat pump assembly is controlled by a vending module to be operated by a user. The system is particularly well suited to include the sale of secondary retail and information services and items at populated public locations, e.g., a beach, city street and parks, and at other venues, e.g., theme parks, golf courses, concerts, ski slopes or other sports venues or indoor facilities such as subway stations, adult night clubs, college bars or airports.

Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed for providing therapeutic hypothermia using irrigation of the aerodigestive tract with cooled liquids. The disclosed method provides much more rapid therapeutic cooling to lower temperatures than could previously be achieved, thereby improving clinical outcomes. Novel cooling liquids and cooling devices are disclosed for carrying out the method. An external turbulent flow of cooling liquid may also be applied to the exterior of the head to further promote heat exchange. Multiple embodiments of devices are disclosed for performing rapid induction and maintenance of therapeutic hypothermia either in a hospital setting or in the field so that hypothermic treatment can be quickly instituted before significant tissue damage occurs. Methods are also disclosed for targeting brain cooling by irrigating the upper airway/aerodigestive tract, and more generalized cooling by irrigating the esophagus and/or stomach.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses devices and methods, for non-invasive ultrasound-guided body contouring, including: a variable-frequency treatment applicator having at least one variable-frequency ultrasound emitter; and a control unit for adjusting an output frequency of at least one ultrasound emitter. Devices and methods including: a variable-frequency treatment applicator having at least one variable-frequency ultrasound emitter; a resonance sensor for determining a resonant frequency of a treatment area; and a control unit for adjusting an output frequency, of at least one ultrasound emitter, to the resonant frequency based on a signal from the resonance sensor. Devices and methods including: a variable-frequency treatment applicator having at least one variable-frequency ultrasound emitter; a cooling mechanism located in the treatment applicator; and a control unit for applying an output frequency to at least one ultrasound emitter. Preferably, the output frequency is within a frequency range from 25 kHz to 60 kHz.
Abstract:
An apparatus (10) and a method for treating patients suffering from vascular disease with infra-, audible- and ultrasound waves. The apparatus (10) includes a treating head (15) for emitting sound waves with frequencies ranging from 1 Hz to 100 kHz and introducing the sound waves through a coupling medium (20) into a body portion (22) to be treated, an electronics (12) connected to the treating head (15) for energizing the treating head (15) to emit the sound waves, and a control panel (11) connected to the electronics (12) to choose the electronic waveform of the energizing.
Abstract:
Methods and devices for ablating portions of a tissue volume with electromagnetic radiation (EMR) to produce lattices of EMR-treated ablation islets in the tissue are disclosed, including lattices of micro-holes, micro-grooves, and other structures. Also, methods and devices for using the ablated islets are disclosed, including to deliver chromophores, filler, drugs and other substances to the tissue volume.
Abstract:
A device has four fundamental components: an enclosure, a soft seal, a vacuum system and a thermal energy system having a thermal energy contacting element. The device provides thermal energy therapy and negative pressure therapy device simultaneously and/or in conjunction to a patient. The device has a thermal energy system that is more efficient in thermal energy transfer and the soft seal decreases tissue interface pressure to obtain the desired soft seal effect.
