Abstract:
A motorized split-hinge device for a very heavy double door, designed to be motorized and including a flap that is mounted to pivot around an essentially vertical axis of rotation on a frame, includes a stationary split-hinge part integral with the frame and a movable split-hinge part integral with the flap and mounted in rotation relative to the stationary split-hinge part around a pivoting shaft. The movable split-hinge part includes a drive mechanism driven by a motor unit adapted to drive the movable split-hinge part in rotation around its pivoting shaft and starting the flap moving by pivoting when opening or closing, whereby the motor unit is mounted in a removable manner on the drive mechanism and on a stationary part of the door, and is kept in drive position of the mechanism with anti-rotational locking relative to the flap.
Abstract:
A household appliance including a door that tilts about a tilt axis; a braking device to dampen a tilt motion of the door; and a transferring unit to transfer rotation of the tilt axis to a braking axis during the tilt motion of the door. The braking axis is offset relative to the tilt axis and the braking device is in functional cooperation with the braking axis.
Abstract:
A household appliance including a housing that has an opening; a door rotatable about a first rotation axis between a closed position in which the opening is closed by the door and an open position in which the opening is opened; a first door-opening unit to generate a first opening force to the door at least when the door is in the closed position; and a second door-opening unit to generate a second opening force to the door at least when the door is in the closed position. The second door-opening unit is arranged closer to the first rotation axis than the first door-opening unit.
Abstract:
The present invention is an extremely compact three leaf geared hinge that is adapted to handle heavy loads, tightly fold back onto itself for space conservation, offer extensive freedom of movement in the horizontal plane and provide an extremely smooth operating action with minimal play in torsion as well as in axial or transverse motions. The hinge has three interconnected leaves jointed by hinge pins. The inner and outer leaves each have two fixed gears on their sides that meshingly engage a set of two rotating gears located on the sides of the middle leaf. The inner leaf has a cylindrical leaf and pin arrangement on one end that may be rotatably secured to a rigid member or housing. The free end of the outer leaf may be attached to the load directly or with a device that allows the load to rotate normally about the extended hinge.
Abstract:
A threaded follower mounted on a spiral rod is attached to the first end of a torsion spring, the second end of the torsion spring being connected to a window sash, one end of the spiral rod being attached to a window frame by a gear box that prevents rotation of the spiral rod unless the gear box receives externally provided rotational force by which it then rotates the spiral rod.
Abstract:
A drive unit for a power operated vehicle closure has a track, a guide moveable along the track, a link attached to the guide at one end and adapted to be attached to the vehicle closure at the opposite end, and a motor assembly for moving the guide along the track. The motor assembly has an electric motor and a speed reducer driven by the electric motor that has a first stage and a second stage. The first stage includes a belt drive and the second stage is a spur gear set. Alternatively the first stage is a worm gear and a mating helical gear. The worm gear preferably has a high lead angle and a high number of leads. The speed of the electric motor is reduced to about 1000 rpm or less in the first stage permitting the use of spur gears in the second stage while retaining quiet operation.
Abstract:
The present application discloses automatic door assemblies and swing operators therefor. One aspect of the disclosure provides a swing door operator that has spring return breakout and from motor driven opening. Another aspect of the disclosure provides a swing door operator that is non-handed with spring return from either direction. Another aspect of the disclosure provides a swing door operator in which spring force is transmitted to the operator output member via a cam structure.
Abstract:
A continuous gear hinge, having extruded aluminum leaves and an extruded aluminum cap which holds the leaves together at meshed gear segments on the leaves, has the capacity to establish a seal between the door and hinge jamb to which it is attached. That seal derives from intumescent strips which lie in recesses that open out of the of the leaves. In the presence of a fire, the intumescent material, the strips of which extend the full length of the hinge, expands and bonds to the door and hinge jamb to not only seal the space between the two, but also to secure the door should the hinge lose its capacity to hold the door.
Abstract:
A pinned hinge comprising with first and second hinged members respectively including first and second leaves. The leaves have knuckles that define first bores that extend through the knuckles in a longitudinal direction. A pin is received within the bores of both leaves, pivotably joining the leaves. A cover, defining a longitudinal channel, surrounds the knuckles, protecting them. The leaves are operatively connected to the cover such that pivotal movement of the leaves displaces the cover with respect to the pin. Shanks connecting the knuckles to leaf bodies preferably have at least a double bend to retard interference between the cover and the leaves during pivoting. In one embodiment, the knuckles have gear sectors meshed with racks in the cover. In another embodiment, leaf springs operatively connect the cover to the leaves. Further embodiments include a seal disposed for sealing the cover to the hinged members when the hinge is closed. End caps block the ends of the cover. Preferably, one of these caps has a lubricant port for feeding lubricant into the channel. A cross guide, such as a cross pin, may be provided to guide the cover with respect to the pin. Some embodiments have a biasing member that pivotally biases the leaves in response to a relative position of the cover with respect to the pin.
Abstract:
Control systems including control circuitry and optional communications systems for operating a sliding power-operated member of an automotive vehicle. A powered sliding door in an automotive vehicle, such as a van, moves along a predetermined path of travel between a closed position and a fully open position relative to the body of the vehicle. Such a sliding door may be provided with one or more electrically-operated actuators for performing functions associated with the door, such as power opening and closing the door, power unlatching the door, power locking and unlocking the door, and power clamping and unclamping the door in a soft or low-momentum manner. The invention is directed toward improved control systems and circuitry for operating such power-sliding door systems. One such control system employs a wireless communications link between the door and body, which is preferably implemented using radio frequency communication signals containing digitally encoded control signals. Control circuitry is preferably provided in the body and the door of the vehicle for supervising and carrying out the foregoing functions in an orderly manner in response to requests generated locally at the door or remotely by the driver from the console of the vehicle. A second, simpler, control system provides electrically-actuated mechanisms for unlatching the door and operating the door lock without the use of either a wireless communication system or a retractable electrical cable interconnecting the sliding door to the vehicle body.
