Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for obtaining hybridoma cell lines which produce human antibodies capable of binding to the hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBVsAg), as well as the hybridoma cell lines, and antibodies produced by the cell lines. Also disclosed are various uses of said antibodies in the prevention and treatment of HBV infection. Peripheral blood lymphocytes obtained from human donors having a high titer of anti HBVsAg antibodies are engrafted into normal strains of mice which were lethally irradiated and radioprotected with SCID bone marrow. After immunization of such chimeric mice with HBVsAg, human cells are obtained from the mice spleens and fused in vitro with heteromyeloma cells to generate hybridomas secreting human antibodies having a high affinity and specificity to HBVsAg.
Abstract:
A method of identifying a combination of antibodies with a combined improved anti tumor activity is provided. The method comprising identifying at least two anti RTK antibodies capable of inducing synergistic endocytosis of the RTK in a cell expressing the RTK, thereby identifying the combination of antibodies with the combined improved anti-tumor activity.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for the ionization of living cells where an optical device (14) delivers an optical pulse having an optical field power which is modified locally by an optical field power modifying means (18) to effect ionization and destruction of living cells (16).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to tumor associated antigen (TAA) peptides and to use of same, of polynucleotides encoding same and of cells presenting same as anti-tumor vaccines. More particularly, the present invention relates to tumor associated antigen peptides derived from Uroplakin Ia, Ib, II and III, Prostate specific antigen (PSA), Prostate acid phosphatase (PAP) and Prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA), BA-46 (Lactadherin), Mucin (MUC-1), and Teratocarcinoma-derived growth factor (CRIPTO-1) and the use of same as anti-tumor vaccines to prevent or cure bladder, prostate, breast or other cancers, carcinomas in particular. Most particularly, the present invention relates to tumor associated antigen peptides which are presentable to the immune system by HLA-A2 molecules.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of random or ordered copolymers including the known copolymer glatiramer (also known as Copolymer 1) and Copolymer 1-related heteropolymers or ordered peptides, for treating or preventing cardiovascular diseases and disorders.
Abstract:
Methods and pharmaceutical compositions for regulating apoptosis and treating pathologies associated with disregulated apoptosis are provided. Specifically the present invention provides agents capable of modulating the expression of an MCD-containing protein (e.g., Mtch2) capable of tBID binding activity and/or the tBID binding activity of the MCD-containing protein.
Abstract:
Novel proteins IR1B1 and IR1B4 have been isolated which bind to the type I IFN receptor IFNAR1 and function in the cellular response to IFNs. DNA encoding such proteins in either the sense or anti-sense orientation can be administered to either enhance or inhibit the cellular response to IFNs. Antibodies to the proteins can be used for isolation of the new protein or for immunodetection thereof.
Abstract:
A human synthetic peptide-based influenza vaccine for intranasal administration comprises a mixture of flagella containing at least four epitopes of influenza virus reactive with human cells, each expressed individually in Salmonella flagellin, said influenza virus epitopes being selected from the group consisting of: (i) one B-cell hemagglutinin (HA) epitope; (ii) one T-helper hemagglutinin (HA) or nucleo-protein (NP) epitope that can bind to many HLA molecules; and (iii) at least two cytotoxic lymphocyte (CTL) nucleoprotein (NP) or matrix protein (M) epitopes that are restricted to the most prevalent HLA molecules in different human populations.
Abstract:
A device for monitoring dripping of a fluid from a fluid channel, the device comprises a capacitor, being formed on or integrated with the fluid channel, and electrical contacts, connecting the capacitor to a capacitance measuring device, the capacitor is designed and constructed so that a change in a capacitance thereof represents a formation of a drop near an edge of the fluid channel.
Abstract:
A semiconductor sensing device for sensing presence, absence or level of species-of-interest in the environment is disclosed. The semiconductor sensing device comprises at least one layer of molecules deposited thereon. The molecules are electrically-responsive to the species-of-interest in a manner such that when the molecules interact with the species-of-interest, a reverse breakdown voltage characterizing the semiconductor sensing device is modified.
