A relatively inexpensive process for making plastic components having textured chrome finishes that may have fine, crisp, clean lines and intricate details includes steps of electroplating a layer of etchable metal on a surface of a plastic article, typically preserving the surface of the etchable metal, etching a desired relief pattern on the layer of etchable metal, typically cleaning and activating the surface of the relief patterned etched metal layer, and electroplating a layer of decorative metal on the relief patterned etched metal layer.
Abstract:
A composition and method is provided capable of removing contaminants from the surface of a gelatin capsule, such as a paint ball, to allow the gelatin capsules to be used for their intended use. The composition comprising, by weight, about 70 to 99.9 percent of a water-soluble alcohol, about 0.1 to 30 percent water, about 0.1 to 10 percent of a volatile silicone, and about 0.1 to 1 percent of a non-volatile silicone. Furthermore, the composition prevents excessive swelling of the gelatin outer shell of the gelatin encapsulated product. A method is also provided for cleaning a gelatin encapsulated product comprising the steps of contacting the gelatin encapsulated product with a cleaning composition, separating the gelatin encapsulated product from the cleaner, and drying the gelatin encapsulated product. The gelatin capsule may be a paintball. The composition may include additives to improve the performance of the gelatin capsules.

An antiseptic cleansing composition comprising an antimicrobial agent, an effective amount of an alkylpolysaccharide surfactant, at least one alkyl alcohol and at least one aryl alcohol. Suitable surfactant alkylpolysaccharides may contain one or more sugar units selected from the group consisting of maltose, arabinose, xylose, mannose, galactose, gulose, idose, talose, allose, altrose, sucrose, fructose, sorbose, levulose, lactose, allulose, tagatose, alloheptulose, sedoheptulose, glucoheptulose, mannoheptulose, guloheptulose, idoheptulose, galactoheptulose, taloheptulose and derivatives thereof. Suitable antimicrobial agents include chlorhexidine, chlorhexidine salt, chlorophenol derivative, octenidindihydrochloride (CH3—(CH2)7—NHON—(CH2)10—NO—NH(CH2)7—CH2 or any other salt thereof, and quaternary ammonium compounds.

This invention relates to a “high lower alcohol content” (>40% v/v of a C1-4 alcohol) liquid composition able to be either dispensed as a stable foam with the use of non-propellant foam dispensing devices from non-pressurized containers or as an alcohol gel composition which does not use thickener and gelling agents that leave undesirable deposits or a sticky after-feel and that has a final viscosity less than 4,000 cps. The liquid compositions comprise an alcohol, C1-4 (>40% v/v), a fluorosurfactant of at least 0.001% by weight to prepare a foamable composition or from 0-2.0% to prepare a gel-like composition of a final viscosity less than 4,000 cps, 0-10% w/w of additional minor components added to obtain the desired performance (a foamable composition or a gel-like composition with a viscosity less than 4,000 cps), and the balance being purified water. The compositions may include emulsifier-emollients and mosturizers, secondary surfactants, foam stabilizers, fragrances, antimicrobial agents, other type of medicinal ingredients, and the like ingredients or additives or combinations thereof commonly added to alcohol gels or foams, aerosol compositions or to toiletries, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and the like.

An encapsulated active substance for a manual detergent for hard surfaces comprises an essentially anhydrous active substance with at least one surfactant and at least one liquid polymer carrier encapsulated in a water-soluble or water-dispersible capsule, the active substance containing: less than 25 wt. % of carrier; at least one unbranched or branched, acryclic or cyclic, saturated or unsaturated alcohol with 1 to 10 carbon atoms and one or two primary, secondary or tertiary hydroxy groups and a carbon chain optionally having one or more —O— groups; or being free of glycerol. The encapsulated active substance can be used as a manual detergent for hard surfaces.

The iron sulfide cleaning composition is simple to use and effective in removing deposits of iron sulfide from hydrocarbon wells. The iron sulfide cleaning composition consists of formaldehyde or glutaraldehyde, methanol, 2-butoxyethanol, isopropyl alcohol, hydrochloric acid, Surfactant Intermediate, Surfactant/Corrosion Inhibitor, glacial acetic acid and water.

These germicidal and disinfectant compositions are used in conjunction with prepackaged wipes and kits that allows the user to remove liquid or dried contaminated material without coming into direct contact with the contaminated material.

A cleaning composition for treating and removing stains from a non-porous surface has one or more salts, such as quaternary ammonium salts, sulfates and chlorides, a chelator and a dispersant, dissolved in an aqueous solution of alcohol. The preferred salts are myristyltrimethylammonium bromide and benzethonium chloride, the chelator is tetrasodium salt ethylenediamine of tetraacetic acid, and the dispersant is polyvinyl alcohol. The cleaning composition is incorporated into a product, which has a non-woven polyester carrier impregnated with the cleaning composition.
