Abstract:
The present invention provides a shear thinning, transparent gel laundry detergent composition, comprising a surfactant system containing surfactant material selected from an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant or a mixture thereof, and from 0.1 to 10% by weight of a clarity improving agent being a glycol dialkyl ether selected from a mono-or polyethylene glycol dialkyl ether having the formula (CpH2p+1)O—(CH2CH2O)n—(CqH2q+1), (I) a mono- or polypropylene glycol dialkyl ether having the formula (CpH2p+1)O—(CH2CH (CH3)O)n—(CqH2q+1), (II) and mixtures thereof, wherein p and q independently are integers in the range of from 1 to 5, and n is an integer in the range of from 1 to 50, preferably 1 to 10. It has been found that this gel laundry composition is highly transparent, such that particles can be suspended therein for improving visual appearance.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a shear thinning, transparent, gel laundry detergent composition, comprising a surfactant system containing surfactant material selected from an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant or a mixture thereof, and from 1 to 8% by weight of a fatty alcohol gelling agent having the formula 1 wherein R1, R2 and R3 are independently selected from hydrogen and saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched C1-C16 alkyl groups, whereby the total number of carbon atoms in the gelling agent is between 8 and 17. It has been found that this gel laundry composition can stable suspend particles or capsules either for improving visual appearance or for practical reasons.
Abstract:
A method of thinning a fabric conditioning composition comprising (a) from 7.5 to 80% by weight of a ester-linked quaternary ammonium fabric softening material comprising at least one mono-ester linked component and at least one tri-ester linked component; comprises the step of adding a fatty complexing agent (b) to the composition in an amount such that the weight ratio of the mono-ester linked component of compound (a) to fatty complexing agent (b) is from 2.93:1 to 1:5.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of enhancing low temperature stability of lamellar structured liquid cleansing compositions comprising 5% to 50% of a surfactant system comprising (a) anionic or mixture of anionics and (b) an amphoteric and/or zwifterionic surfactant, wherein said method comprises selecting component (b) such that alkalimetal alkylamphoacetate comprises greater than 25% to 90% of said component (b).
Abstract:
A concentrate that is particularly useful as a pearling agent or for preparing emulsions is provided. The concentrate includes from 60 to 90% by weight of a mixture of at least one alkylglycoside of the formula RO(G).sub.x and of at least one alkylglycoside of the formula R'O(G').sub.x '. R represents a saturated or unsaturated linear or branched aliphatic radical containing from 8 to 15 carbon atoms. R' represents a saturated or unsaturated linear or branched aliphatic radical containing from 16 to 22 carbon atoms. G and G', which are identical or different, represent a saccharide residue. The subscripts x and x', which are identical or different, represent a number between 1 and 10. The concentrate also includes from 10 to 40% by weight of at least one fatty alcohol of the formula R.sub.1 OH, R.sub.1 being a saturated or unsaturated linear or branched aliphatic radical containing from 8 to 22 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
C.sub.8 -C.sub.40 Alcohols, or C.sub.8 -.sub.C 40 alcohol containing one or more hydroxyl groups and onto which up to 20 moles of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide can be added per mole of alcohol, when added to aqueous industrial anionic surfactant concentrates, particularly concentrates of .alpha.-sulfofatty acid esters containing at least 50% by weight of the sodium salt of .alpha.-sulfofatty acid ester, significantly improve the rheological behavior thereof. The alcohols are added in quantities of from about 1 to about 15% by weight, based on the quantity of surfactant, whereupon the viscosity of the surfactant concentrate becomes at most 10,000 mPas at 70.degree. C.
