The present invention proposes a method for transmitting a broadcast signal. The method for transmitting a broadcast signal according to the present invention proposes a system capable of supporting next-generation broadcast service in an environment supporting a next-generation hybrid broadcast which uses a terrestrial broadcasting network and an internet network. Also, the present invention proposes an efficient signaling method which can encompass both the terrestrial broadcasting network and the internet network in an environment supporting next-generation hybrid broadcast.

The present invention provides a method of transmitting broadcast signals. The method includes, generating input packets including broadcast content data; generating a link layer packet by using the generated input packets, wherein the link layer packet includes a link layer header and a link layer payload including the generated input packets, wherein the link layer header includes a count field indicating number of the input packets included in the link layer payload, wherein the link layer header further includes a length part, wherein the length part includes a plurality of length fields as many as that the count field indicates, wherein each of the length fields indicates length of the each input packets included in the link layer payload; generating a broadcast signal including the generated link layer packet; and transmitting the broadcast signal.

A method of processing an interactive service and an apparatus thereof are disclosed. The present invention includes receiving uncompressed audio content or uncompressed video content from an external decoding unit, extracting identifiers of frames from the received content periodically, submitting requests containing the identifiers and receiving a trigger for the content when a new segment is detected or when an event activation needs to be communicated to the receiver, wherein the trigger indicates the current time of the contents and references a particular interactive event in an application parameter table or signals that the event is to be executed now or at a specified future time, wherein the application parameter table includes information about at least one of applications.

The present invention provides a method of providing interactive services or contents. The method includes, receiving a ESG (Enhancement Service Guide) information including preference criteria indicating characteristics of the interactive services or contents for recommending the user the interactive services or contents based on user's personal interests, receiving a PDI (Profiles, Demographics, Interests) table via broadcast signals, wherein the PDI table includes plural PDI questions related to user's personal interests for interactive contents, wherein each of the PDI questions has a question ID identifying a PDI question, obtaining an answer for at least one of the PDI questions, storing the obtained answer in the PDI table, determining recommendation interactive services or contents by comparing the preference criteria with the obtained answer and presenting the determined recommendation interactive services or contents in ESG.

Provided are a video display device and a method of operating the same. The video display device request content recognition configuration information to a third party server that is not dependent on any single channel, and receives the content recognition configuration information from the third party server. The video display device extracts a plurality of content recognition configuration information items from the content recognition configuration information and configures the plurality of content recognition configuration information item in the video display device. The video display device obtains contents information of uncompressed content on the basis of the plurality of content recognition configuration information item, obtains an application on the basis of the content information, and executes the application.

The digital service signal processing apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprises: a generation module for generating a request for receiving signaling information of an application related to a program of a digital service signal using the channel information related to the program of the digital service signal; a control module for transmitting the generated request, receiving the signaling information of the application, and determining whether the application is stored using the received signaling information of the application; and a download module for downloading, if it is determined that the application is not stored, the application using the signaling information of the application.
