Abstract:
An apparatus and method for alleviating excessive pressure development on a body area includes a cushion having bottom and top surfaces which are spaced apart. The top surface has a plurality of channels formed therethrough. A compressible inner layer is disposed between the top and bottom surfaces, and a plurality of elongate, inflexible members are supported by the inner layer and are disposed at least partially within the channels. The members have first ends that extend through the charnels to project beyond the top surface. Pressure applied to the first ends causes the members to be displaced axially along the channels toward the bottom surface without deformation. Pressure produced by body contact creates point pressures on the body area, and displacement of the members maintains the plurality of point pressures on the body area, alleviating excessive pressure. The apparatus includes a enclosure cover and the members have large, tapered ends. The apparatus may also include a heating or cooling system and may also be incorporated into a vehicle seat.
Abstract:
A spa cooling fan assembly mounted in the wall of a spa cabinet. The cabinet encloses a water circulating pump. A fan motor frame is secured over an opening in the spa cabinet wall and the fan is driven by a turbine. The turbine is driven by a flow of water from the water circulating pump so that when the water pump is running, the cooling fan also operates. A second cooling fan assembly may be mounted in a second opening in the spa cabinet wall. One cooling fan draws air out of the cabinet and the second cooling fan draws air from outside te cabinet into the cabinet. The result is that when the water pump is running, air is being circulated into the spa cabinet to keep the pump motor cool.
Abstract:
Therapeutic devices that provide support or pressure to tissue. Devices contain a material that is capable of being contracted from its relaxed state to an evacuated state. The material applies pressure to the tissue of a patient when the material is in its relaxed state. Reduction of pressure by application of a vacuum results in a contracted state of the device, so that the device can be applied or delivered to a patient. Release of vacuum results in a return to the relaxed state, thus providing a maximum desirable pressure to tissue and avoiding the possibility of over-pressure which can result in tissue damage or necrosis.

Abstract:
A sexual aid in the form of a string of anal beads is provided wherein each bead is preferably in the form of a hollow spherical plastic shell. A liquid or gel fills the hollow spheres of the beads and can be heated or chilled prior to use. The liquid or gel is chosen so as to be able to retain the cold or heated temperature for a substantial period of time whereby the beads can transfer the heat or cold to the human body over a period of time during the use of the anal beads.
Abstract:
A steam massaging device includes a steam generator, a main tube and a massaging means. The steam generator comprises a boiler, a seal lid and a steam outlet. The steam outlet has one end located above the boiler and the other end connected to one end of the main tube. The main tube has the other end connected to the massaging means for conducting steam to an interior of the massaging means. The massaging means comprises at least one massaging plate assembly or one massaging rod assembly. The massaging plate assemblies are interconnected, and the massaging rod is connected to the massaging plate assembly/assemblies so that steam can flow through them. The massaging device may be used to massaging the back and waist as well as the soles.
Abstract:
A hot and cold massaging unit (10) comprises a housing (12) having a receptacle (26) therein. A plurality of vibrators (36) are surrounded by padding (34) in the housing. A plurality of gel packs (32) which are capable of retaining heat and cold, are insertable within receptacle (26) which is then closable by a zipper (28). Gel packs (32) can therefor also be removed from and replaced in the receptacle.
Abstract:
A therapeutic pad for heating or cooling has a liquid absorbent to prevent liquid leakage in the event the sealed envelope of the pad is ruptured. The method of forming the pad includes vacuuming the thermoplastic envelope prior to sealing. The pad can be used alone or with a comforter to provide warmth or to remove heat from the body of the user.
Abstract:
A therapeutic massage mask comprises an elongated resilient plastic pouch having a length and width which is greater than the thickness thereof. The pouch is filled with a plurality of spherical balls made of a thermal transfer material, such as hard plastic, ceramic, or hollow spheres filled with BLUE ICE.RTM. material. The pouch is placed in a freezer to lower the temperature of the balls located within it. Subsequently, the pouch then may be applied to overlie a portion of the human body and a gentle rolling action on the side of the pouch opposite the body causes the balls to transfer a massaging action to the portion of the body underlying the pouch. At the same time, the balls function to cool the underlying body portion, thereby serving a dual function.
Abstract:
An electronic massage device with cold/hot compress function includes an eccentric wheel driven by a motor to rotate and thereby generates vibration, a thermoelectric module used to provide the cold or heat source needed by the cold or hot compress, respectively, a cooling fan used to exhaust extra hot air generated during cold compress, and a set of thermoswitches used to control the hot compress temperature. The massage device may be used to soothe general body impairments through sports by cold compress alone or by hot compress together with massage.
