Abstract:
An acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprising 5 to 75 parts by weight of an adherent polymer (a) comprising (meth)acrylic ester component units as principal structural units and having a weight average molecular weight of 50,000 or more; 5 to 40 parts by weight of a tackifier resin (b) comprising (meth)acrylic ester component units as principal structural units and having a weight average molecular weight of 20,000 or less; and 20 to 90 parts by weight of monomers (c) whose principal component is a (meth)acrylic ester, wherein substantially no solvent is contained is provided. Further, a pressure sensitive adhesive tape having a pressure sensitive adhesive layer superimposed on a support surface is provided by coating the support surface with the above acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive composition, which contain a partial polymerizate, and carrying out a polymerization reaction on the support surface.

Abstract:
The invention concerns an adhesive tape for flying reel changes having a backing layer and adhesive layers coated on both sides of said backing layer. The adhesive tape has a cleavage means provided substantially transverse to at least said backing layer, thereby dividing said backing layer into a first portion and a second portion, wherein the one adhesive layer is not effective in the area of the second portion and the other adhesive layer is not effective in the area of the first portion.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an aqueous polymerization method for preparing graft copolymers, and copolymer compositions produced therefrom. The method of the present invention includes (a) forming a macromonomer aqueous emulsion containing water insoluble macromonomer particles; (b) forming a monomer composition containing at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer; and (c) combining at least a portion of the macromonomer aqueous emulsion and at least a portion of the monomer composition and polymerizing the resulting polymerization reaction mixture in the presence of an initiator to form a copolymer composition. The copolymer composition produced contains water insoluble particles of graft copolymer.
Abstract:
A method for making a bicontinuous, conductive, pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA), such that the starting microemulsion has a convenient viscosity for coating, and such that only a single polmerization step is needed. This has been accomplished by the discovery of a class of thickening agents having a carboxylic acid functionality that are compatible with the microemulsion and yet do not damage the properties of the final adhesive.
Abstract:
An aqueous coating composition containing comb copolymer particles is disclosed. The comb copolymer has a polymer backbone with at least one attached graft segment. Disclosed is a select comb copolymer having select values for the weight % ranges and glass transition temperature ranges of the backbone and the attached graft segment. An aqueous coating composition containing particles of this select comb copolymer is useful for preparing semi-gloss dried coatings with acceptable scrub resistance. A method of forming a coating from the aqueous coating composition is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Electrostatically charged graphic sheets are additionally provided with a preapplied activatable adhesive. Such sheets may be oriented on a display substrate using the electrostatically induced adhesion, and more securely fastened to the display substrate using the activatable adhesive.
