Abstract:
A method and apparatus for real time speech recognition with and without speaker dependency which includes the following steps. Converting the speech signals into a series of primitive sound spectrum parameter frames; detecting the beginning and ending of speech according to the primitive sound spectrum parameter frame, to determine the sound spectrum parameter frame series; performing non-linear time domain normalization on the sound spectrum parameter frame series using sound stimuli, to obtain speech characteristic parameter frame series with predefined lengths on the time domain; performing amplitude quantization normalization on the speech characteristic parameter frames; comparing the speech characteristic parameter frame series with the reference samples, to determine the reference sample which most closely matches the speech characteristic parameter frame series; and determining the recognition result according to the most closely matched reference sample.
Abstract:
A polarization fringe scanning digital interferometer includes an encoder r performing a phase polarization encoding on the wavefront coming from the optical component under test as it passes through the encoder. The encoded wavefront then passes through an analyzer into a video camera to produce electrical signals representing the interference pattern. The encoder includes in sequence, a polarizer having an adjustable polarization axis, a polarization film providing a polarization pinhole through the film and a quarter wave plate that preferably is a Fresnel plate.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods of preventing or treating ALS by use of a modified EKLF polypeptide, a modified nucleic acid encoding the modified EKLF polypeptide, or modified bone marrow cells comprising the modified nucleic acid. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the modified EKLF polypeptide comprises an amino acid modification that confers reduced sumoylation in a wild-type EKLF polypeptide.
Abstract:
A system and method for image-guided microscopic illumination are provided. A processing module controls an imaging assembly such that a camera acquires an image or images of a sample in multiple fields of view, and the image or images are automatically transmitted to a processing module and processed by the first processing module automatically in real-time based on a predefined criterion so as to determine coordinate information of an interested region in each field of view. The processing module also controls an illuminating assembly to illuminate the interested region of the sample according to the received coordinate information regarding to the interested region, with the illumination patterns changing among the fields of view.
Abstract:
A transgenic rice plant containing in its genome a recombinant DNA construct that includes a first nucleic acid having a sequence of a first Golden 2-like transcription factor (GLK) gene operably linked to its natural promoter and 5′ untranslated region (5′UTR), and a second nucleic acid having a sequence of a second GLK gene operably linked to its natural promoter and 5′UTR, the second GLK gene being distinct from the first GLK gene. The first GLK gene and the second GLK gene are both from a C4 plant and the transgenic rice plant exhibits a 65-106% increase in shoot biomass and a 50-95% increase in grain yield, as compared to an untransformed wild-type rice plant. Also provided is a method for producing the transgenic rice plant and a recombinant DNA construct that can be used in the method.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are compounds designed and used in the degradation of pathogenic protein aggregates and oligomers, thus these compounds are suitable for use as medicaments for preventing and/or treating neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), Alzheimer's disease (AD), and Huntington's disease (HD).
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a novel monoclonal antibody exhibiting binding affinity to Siglec-3 receptor. According to the embodiment, the monoclonal antibody is capable of reversing HBV-induced immunosuppression. Accordingly, also disclosed herein are the uses thereof in the treatment and/or prophylaxis of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for surface plasmon resonance imaging are provided for imaging the surface plasmon resonance signals caused by the interaction of biomolecules. In particular, the method and apparatus can image the slightly spectral change in a surface plasmon resonance mode by comparing the light intensities of two bands in the frequency domain of the surface plasmon.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an electrolyte solution for a lithium metal battery, comprising: a lithium thiophosphate complex formed by phosphorus pentasulfide and lithium polysulfide. In addition, a lithium metal battery comprising the aforesaid electrolyte solution and a method for preparing the aforesaid electrolyte solution are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a multifunctional interfacial layer, which includes a conducting fiber network and a polymer-based conductive medium. The conducting fiber network layer can serves as a physical barrier to contain lithium dendrites and provide mechanical strength. The polymer-based conductive medium can facilitate smooth contact with electrodes. Under thermal treatment, an interface additive included in the polymer-based conductive medium can diffuse to the surface of the electrode, resulting in formation of an in-situ interfacial layer on the electrode. Accordingly, the multifunctional interfacial layer can resolve the problems of poor mechanical property and chemical instability at elevated potential and temperature associated with PEO-succinonitrile solid polymer electrolyte and prevent dendritic growth of lithium anode.
