Abstract:
A manufacturing method for a gas discharge panel according to the invention can reduce the amount of water and gaseous molecules, which are absorbed into the first and the second substrates, to a minimum by keeping the both substrates under a reduced pressure, and therefore can prevent a degradation of a discharge gas filling the finished panel. As a result, problems in the finished panel such as increase in a discharge starting voltage and generation of an abnormal discharge can be suppressed.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a member for display apparatus used in a display apparatus comprising a back panel 1 on which electron sources are provided and a front panel 2 that are disposed to oppose the back panel 1 via spacers 3, said member comprising a ceramic that has a Young's modulus (E) of not lower than 120 GPa, a specific rigidity (E/null) of not lower than 40null109 cm, a coefficient of linear expansion of 7.5null10null6 to 10null10null6/null C. in a temperature range from ordinary temperature to 400null C., and a void-occupying area ratio of 6% or less. This member allows it to prevent the accuracy of the apparatus from lowering and cracks from occurring.
Abstract:
A hermetic container used by an image display apparatus or the like is constituted of confronting substrates which are fixed together by a reinforcing member, and an inner space between the substrates is sealed by a sealing member. The reinforcing member is spaced apart from the sealing member to prevent breakage of the hermetic container to be caused by a difference between thermal expansion coefficients of materials.
Abstract:
A plasma display panel using excimer gas is provided. Mixed excimer gases containing xenon (Xe) used to form excimer gas and iodine (I) as a halogen, are injected into the plasma display panel to be used as discharge gases. At least one selected from helium (He), neon (Ne), argon (Ar) and krypton (Kr) can be used as a buffering gas for the discharging gases. At least some of ultraviolet rays originate from the excimer gases and at least some of iodine is supplied from I2. The partial pressure of molecular iodine is less than or equal to a saturated vapor pressure, at operating temperature of the plasma display panel, at room temperature and at 0° C., respectively. The partial pressure of iodine inside the plasma display panel is in the range of 0.01 to 50% based on the total pressure of excimer gases.
Abstract:
A funnel-shaped chip tube and a tubular-shaped press frit are prepared. After the chip tube is disposed on a major surface of a substrate so that the center axis of an exhaust hole provided in the substrate of a sealed container body and the center axis of the chip tube may substantially coincide with each other, the press frit is so disposed as to be located on a surface of an opening portion. After that, by heating the whole device, the press frit is heated and melted, to provide a sealing member contiguously from an outer-rim outside portion of the flare-shaped opening portion of the chip tube to a portion of a tubular portion beyond a boundary.
Abstract:
An image-forming apparatus with good yield and high reliability is provided by devising and improving the shape of a supporting member. Therefore, a flat type image-forming apparatus has at least a rear plate, a face plate arranged oppositely to the rear plate, and a supporting member arranged between the rear plate and the face plate and holding the distance between the rear plate and the face plate in an outer circumferential edge portion. In this flat type image-forming apparatus, the shape of a nook portion of the supporting member is set to an arc shape on the inner or outer side of a container.
Abstract:
An electrode in a plasma display panel and a fabrication process thereof that is capable of reducing a line width of the electrode without increasing a resistance component of the electrode. In the method, a bus electrode is provided by laminating a metal film on a certain substrate and then patterning it. A transparent electrode is provided on the substrate in a shape of surrounding the bus electrode. Accordingly, the electrode is provided by the metal film such that a limit for a selection in a width or thickness of the electrode, so that a line width of the electrode can be reduced to improve the visible light transmissivity and the electrode is formed into a large thickness instead of making a minute electrode width to lower the resistance component, thereby reducing a power consumption of the PDP.
Abstract:
A bandpass filter containing specific red dyes alone or in combination with other dyes selectively transmits predetermined primary color wavelengths as well as selectively absorbs wavelengths other than the predetermined primary color wavelength. The filter is particularly useful for enhancing the contrast of color plasma displays by absorbing visible light emitted at 590 nm from the display.
Abstract:
A protective plate for a plasma display includes conductive substrate for protecting a plasma display and an electrode in electrical contact with the conductive substrate.
Abstract:
This invention is a method of forming ribs of a plasma display panel by transfer-printing a glass paste on a glass substrate. The method comprises; forming a recess having a configuration corresponding to ribs arranged in parallel with each other and a joining element joining the ribs, filling the recess with the glass paste, and starting transfer-printing the glass paste on the glass substrate from a portion of the glass paste corresponding to the joining element filled in the recess. The method ensures that the glass paste comes off substantially completely from within the recess as it is being transfer-printed on the glass substrate and that the ribs are formed with high precision.
