Abstract:
An electrophoretic device including a display region including a plurality of pixels, each having an electrophoretic dispersion layer, a capacitive element for storing charge for maintaining the electrical polarization of the electrophoresis dispersion, and an organic transistor for causing the capacitive element to store charge when turned on, wherein the electrophoretic dispersion layer has a electrophoresis dispersion. A driver region for optionally choosing pixels in the display region to turn on the transistors of the pixels is provided around the display region of the electrophoretic device. An electronic sheet is achieved by transmitting external signals to the driver region to freely change display contents on the display region.
Abstract:
A grand piano have a keyboard implemented by white and black keys selectively depressed by a player for specifying the notes of tones to be generated, and action units are linked with the white and black keys so as to give rise to free rotation of associated hammers through escape, wherein a key-touch regulator is provided between the key frame and the white and black keys for partially canceling the moment initially exerted on the white and black keys due to the self-weight of the action units and the hammers so that any lead weights is not required for regulating the key-touch.
Abstract:
A method for making a three-dimensional device is disclosed. The method includes a step of forming a first cleaving layer, a first intermediate layer, and a first transferred layer on a first translucent substrate and forming a second cleaving layer, a second intermediate layer, and a second transferred layer on a second translucent substrate. The method further includes a step for bonding of the first transferred layer to a transferring-side substrate on the side away from the first translucent substrate, with a first adhesive layer provided therebetween; a step for irradiating the first cleaving layer with illuminating light so as to form intralayer and/or interfacial cleavage in the first cleaving layer by ablation and then detaching the first transferred layer from the first translucent substrate to transfer the first transferred layer onto the transferring-side substrate; a step for bonding of the second transferred layer to the first transferred layer on the side away from the translucent substrate with a conductive adhesive layer provided therebetween; and a step for irradiating the second cleaving layer with the illuminating light as above, and then detaching the second transferred layer from the second translucent substrate to transfer the second transferred layer onto the first transferred layer.
Abstract:
A display is provided which is constructed with a plurality of display blocks linked together so as to be continuous in the vertical direction. Each display block comprises a display portion having a flat rectangular shape with a plurality of pixels which emit light using organic EL elements, arranged over the entire face in a matrix, and a terminal portion provided continuous with one of the short sides of the display portion for relaying signals or power from the outside to each pixel. Each display block is attached on a transparent substrate via a transparent adhesive so that the long sides of the display portion are contacted and are vertically continuous. The display surface of the display portion (the surface on the side which the emitted light in the organic EL element illuminates) faces towards the transparent substrate side. As a result, the light from the display portion shines from the surface of the transparent substrate to the outside.
Abstract:
A semiconductor memory device comprising: an active layer in which are formed a transistor source, channel and drain; a gate for the transistor; a layer of ferroelectric material; and an electrode for applying a voltage to the ferroelectric material; the electrode being spaced apart from the gate, the layer of ferroelectric material having two stable states of internal polarization, and the arrangement being such that the two states of polarization have a detectable difference in effect upon the transfer characteristic of the transistor. The arrangement enables cross-talk between memory cells upon write to be avoided and can mitigate physical interface problems between the ferroelectric material and the active layer.
Abstract:
A touch panel comprises a substrate 11 allowing acoustic wave to be propagated and a transducer 13a, mounted to this substrate, for transmitting or receiving the acoustic wave. A chamfered portion 16 is formed in the end face or the corner portion of the substrate 11 to make the acoustic wave turn around and be propagated from the front surface to the rear surface through the end face of the substrate 11. The acoustic wave propagated through the chamfered portion is received by the transducer 13a placed on the rear surface of the substrate 11. The radius (R) of the chamfered portion 16 of the substrate is 0.5 mm or more. This touch panel may prevent from forming raised portions on the front surface of the propagation medium, so that the touch panel may be enhanced in applicability to thin LCD monitors, and simplified in structure.

Abstract:
A 525i (interlace) signal can be converted into a 1050i signal or a 525p (progressive) signal. A calculating circuit generates pixels of an output picture signal with a linear estimation expression of predictive taps received from a tap selecting circuit and a coefficient received from a coefficient memory. The coefficient memory stores coefficients pre-obtained for individual classes. A class is determined by combining a spatial class corresponding to spatial class taps received from a tap selecting circuit and motion class taps received from a tap selecting circuit. A line sequential converting circuit converts a scanning line structure of an output signal of the calculating circuit 34 and obtains an output picture signal. The output picture signal is designated with a conversion method selection signal. Information corresponding to the selection signal is loaded from an information memory bank to the coefficient memory and registers.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an adsorption-type cooling apparatus comprising first, second, third, and fourth adsorption devices filled with a coolant and contain adsorbents which adsorb evaporated coolant and desorb the adsorbed coolant during heating. Adsorption cores provide heat exchange between the adsorbents and a heat medium, and evaporation and condensation cores provide heat exchange between heating medium and the coolant. A cooling device in which heating medium cooled in the evaporation and condensation cores circulates and cools the object of cooling. A heating means supplies a high-temperature heat medium to the first-fourth adsorption devices. A cooling means supplies a low-temperature heat medium which has a temperature lower than that of the high-temperature heat medium to the first-fourth adsorption devices. Also, a switching control means is provided which switches between multiple states.
