Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to a device for applying a pulsating pressure to a local region of the body and applications thereof. The device may be used to increase the blood flow in a local region of the body, and in preferred embodiments provides a device for regulating the core body temperature of a patient.
Abstract:
A utility hand-piece is adapted for being worn on a hand of a user. The hand-piece includes a body portion adapted for covering at least a portion of the hand, and incorporating at least one fluid channel. A fluid inlet is formed with the body portion and communicates with the fluid channel. A fluid outlet is formed with the body portion and communicates with the fluid channel downstream of the fluid inlet. Upon connecting a fluid source to the hand-piece, fluid is transferred from the fluid inlet through the fluid channel and dispensed from the body portion through the fluid outlet.
Abstract:
An oral hygiene device having one or more toothbrushes connected or connectible to the end of a handle, the one or more toothbrushes providing a desirable fit about the teeth and/or gums and/or providing a desirable brushing action. An oral hygiene device hereof may provide for mechanically providing the brushing movements of the professionally recommended manual tooth-brushing method known as the “Bass” or “Modified Bass” technique to thus reduce or eliminate the element of human error associated with the brushing of a user's teeth and gums.
Abstract:
A device dispenses serum onto the skin of a user, and also provides a massage effect. The device comprises a housing 12 which is to be hand held and a massage head 16. A powered drive 46 is mounted by or in the housing and operatively coupled to the massage head to cause it execute a massage motion. Preferably, the massage motion is rotary. The device has at least one serum dispensing outlet and a pump mechanism, comprising a piston 114 and a cylinder 100, arranged to draw serum from a reservoir and to dispense it through the dispensing outlet. A user-actuatable member 116, formed by the massage head itself, is movably mounted upon the housing and operatively coupled to the piston, so that by means of the user-actuatable member the user can move the piston and so cause a dose of serum to be dispensed.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for treatment of medical devices using surface acoustic waves (SAW) of Rayleigh, “pseudo” Rayleigh and Lamb type. In some embodiments, use of such SAW is controlled such that relative velocity of bacteria is achieved wherein the vibration amplitude of the bacteria is smaller than a Z-potential repulsive zone of the bacteria, thus preventing biofilm formation on the medical devices. In some embodiments, systems of the present invention are powered by body movements, and may also provide a feedback loop for control of parameters. In some embodiments, the medical devices of the present invention are comprised of piezoelectric material, and act as self-actuators for the system.
Abstract:
A system for enhancing absorption of a substance to be provided on a region of a patient's skin, includes a probe configured to provide the substance to the region of the patient's skin, the probe including a flexible tape with a plurality of cavities, and with an electrically conductive element, such as a conductive wire, provided at one end of each of the cavities. A substance holding material, such as gauze stripes, temporarily holds the substance to be provided on the region of the patient's skin, the substance holding material being provided in each of the cavities. A pulse generator generates a sequence of bursts of electrical pulses to the electrically conductive elements provided within the cavities, so as to provide the bursts of electrical pulses to the region of the patient's skin.
Abstract:
A massage and/or dispensing device includes a body, and an applicator element intended to be placed in contact with a surface to be massaged and/or a surface to which a product is to be applied. The applicator element is movably retained in the body or mounted for movement relative to the body. The arrangement further includes a cooling arrangement which includes means of expanding a refrigerant liquefied gas directly in contact with the applicator element.
Abstract:
A removable applicator nozzle for use in treating a wound is provided. The removable applicator nozzle includes a nozzle, a valve and a cup. The nozzle includes a proximal portion, a distal opening and a valve interface. The proximal portion of the nozzle is engagable with a portion of a transducer of an ultrasound wound therapy device. The distal opening of the nozzle allows at least a portion of a tip of the transducer to pass therethrough. The valve is engagable with the valve interface of the nozzle and the valve selectively allows fluid to flow therethrough. The cup includes an aperture and a puncturing device. The aperture is engagable with the valve and the puncturing device is able to puncture a bottle that is inserted on the cup. Fluid flows from the bottle, through the aperture and the valve and onto a tip of the transducer. The fluid is then moved to the distal opening of the nozzle by a vacuum effect.
Abstract:
A packaging and applicator device may include: a composition for application to the skin; a receptacle containing the composition, and including a dispenser zone configured to dispense the composition; and a closure system configured to close the receptacle. The closure system may include a first end facing the dispenser zone. The closure system may include, on a second end remote from the first end, a treatment zone including portions in relief and/or a surface state that enable(s) a user to massage and/or to cleanse skin. The closure system may prevent any communication between the treatment zone and the dispenser zone.
Abstract:
An appliance or device for massaging and/or dispensing a product. The device includes a container holding the product, preferably a cosmetic product, a housing to which the container is mounted, and a massage element mounted on the housing. A rotary drive arrangement rotates the massage elements about an axis of rotation relative to the housing. In addition, a conduit is in fluid communication between an outlet from the container and the massaging element. The container has an axis between the outlet and a bottom of the container, with this axis is parallel to the axis of rotation.
