Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to preemption indicators in the context of multiplexing different services on wireless physical layer frames. In some embodiments, a preemption indication is transmitted to indicate resources used by a preempting transmission. The preemption indication may be used when preemption is enabled, e.g., as indicated by an RRC message. The preemption indication may be common to multiple UEs. The resources used by the preempting transmission may overlap with other transmissions. In various embodiments, the disclosed techniques may facilitate signal preemption, e.g., by a low-latency, high-reliability data service.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods to perform attachment of a wireless device to a next generation gateway via either a base station of a next generation radio access network (RAN) or a mobility management entity of a legacy RAN. An apparatus may be configured to receive an attachment request from a wireless device, determine authentication information via communication with a home subscriber server, determine, based at least in part on the authentication information, whether the wireless device is capable of communicating via the next generation RAT, and send, in response to determining the wireless device is capable, a connection request to a gateway of the next generation RAN. The authentication information may include subscription information associated with the wireless device.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform simultaneous uplink activity for multiple RATs in the same carrier using multiplexing at a layer above the physical layer. The wireless device may establish wireless links with first and second base stations, respectively, according to first and second radio access technologies (RATs), respectively. The first base station may provide a first cell operating in a first system bandwidth and the second base station may provide a second cell operating in a second system bandwidth. The wireless device may determine whether inter-RAT uplink coexistence in the same frequency band is enabled. If so, the wireless device may perform uplink activity for both the first RAT and the second RAT in the first system bandwidth by multiplexing uplink data for the first RAT and uplink data for the second RAT at a layer above the physical layer.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for network slice selection. A network slice selection function of a cellular network may receive a network slice selection request from a radio access network node of the cellular network. The network slice selection request may be received by the radio access network node from a wireless device. A core network slice (and possibly a radio access network slice) of the cellular network may be selected for the service request. A network slice selection response may be provided to the radio access network node, indicating a control plane entry point address for the selected core network slice. The selected radio network slice may also be indicated in the network slice selection response.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for a UE of a wireless communication network to recover from MCG radio link failures in a MR-DC system when the SCG is deactivated or otherwise not enabled. When a MCG link failure is detected and the SCG is deactivated, the UE may activate the SCG for the UE to use the SCG link to transmit and receive signaling messages or data as part of the MCG failure recovery procedure. When the MCG link failure is detected and the UE is configured to add the SCG upon the satisfaction of certain condition, but the condition has not occurred, the UE may check to determine whether one condition is MCG failure and whether the radio link quality of the SCG exceeds a threshold. If the radio link quality of the SCG exceeds the threshold, the UE may apply the SCG configuration to add the SCG.
