Abstract:
A fully automatic deionizer comprising five sub-systems for removing ionic contaminants from various liquids at low energy consumption is devised. Based on the charging-discharging principle of capacitors, the deionizer conducts deionization through applying a low DC voltage to its electrodes for adsorbing ions, while more than 30% of the process energy is recovered and stored by discharging the electrodes. At the mean time of discharge, surface of the electrodes is regenerated on site and reset for performing many more cycles of deionization-regeneration till the desirable purification is attained. In one moment, both deionization and regeneration proceed simultaneously on different groups of electrode modules, and in the next moment the electrode modules quickly switch the two processes. Such swift reciprocating actions are engaged in synchronized coordination of sub-systems of electrode modules, energy management, fluid flow, and automatic control.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an ozone generation and delivery system that lends itself to small scale applications and requires very low maintenance. The system includes an anode reservoir and a cathode phase separator each having a hydrophobic membrane to allow phase separation of produced gases from water. The system may be configured to operate passively with no moving parts or in a self-pressurizing manner with the inclusion of a pressure controlling device or valve in the gas outlet of the anode reservoir. The hydrogen gas, ozone gas and water containing ozone may be delivered under pressure.

Abstract:
Device for the electroactivation of a fluid (1), preferably a somewhat saliferous solution, having a pH value of 6-8, with two electrodes (3,4) that are lowered into the fluid (1) and a thin membrane (5) which has a very small electrical conductivity and is mounted in a way such that the fluid (1) is divided into two separated volumes (7,8). During electroactivation of the fluid (1) on the electrodes (3,4) is applied, preferably during 3-20 minutes, a direct-current voltage (6) with virtual value 50-500 V. The invention also relates to preparations consisting of the mentioned volumes (7,8), which after ceasing of the application of voltage on the electrodes (3,4) have essentially the same pH value as had the fluid (1) before the application of voltage, but present totally different effects on biological material.
Abstract:
An apparatus for water treatment, and in particular for electrical water purification in combination with a filtering apparatus for providing purified water for drinking and other application common in the home, farm or business. Metal, hydrogen and oxygen ions are introduced into water to be treated by using plasma fused iridium coated titanium electrodes and copper alloy electrodes. After ionizing the water to be purified, the water is then filtered in a filter tank which contains layers of various filtration media, including granular activated carbon.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an improved electrolytic cell 10 for the generation of low cost halogen biocidally active agent from an aqueous solution having a low halogen salt content for the use in the treatment of swimming pools and spas or other liquid effluents, especially those the fresh water swimming pools or spas. The electrolytic cell is used in line with pumps generally associated with the distribution of waters for swimming pools, spas or other facilities. The electrolytic cell has electrodes 11 made of a noble metal that are not directly in the path of the flow of the liquid.
Abstract:
A method of reducing the concentration of metal ions in pure water or ultrapure water and thereby obtaining pure water or ultrapure water. Such purified pure water or purified ultrapure water is used, for example, when washing semiconductor wafers, as a starting material of electrolytic ionic water, or for diluting washing water. A pair of carbon electrodes is disposed in an ultrapure water storage tank containing pure water or ultrapure water or in a purifying tank disposed in a line leading from an ultrapure water storage tank. A D.C. voltage is applied across the electrode pair. A carbon electrode material having a large specific surface area is chosen, and an electrode structure with which there is little detachment of carbon fragments is used. After the carbon electrode is molded, a carbon layer is formed on the surface of the molding by dipping the molding in an amorphous carbon bath. Because the carbon layer penetrates into the pores in the molding surface, the bonds between the carbon elements are strengthened, preventing carbon fragments from detaching. Because the electrode surfaces may be covered with filters, even if carbon fragments do detach, they are caught by the filters, preventing particles from entering the purified pure water or purified ultrapure water.
