Abstract: A vehicle object detection system includes a vehicle body structure, a sensing device, a video display and a controller. The vehicle body structure defines a passenger compartment and has an underside section a predetermined height above ground. The sensing device detects height of an object within a prescribed area adjacent to the underside section as the vehicle body structure approaches the object. The video display is viewable from within the passenger compartment and displays images representing the prescribed area adjacent to the underside section of the vehicle body structure. The controller is configured to process object information received from the sensing device in order to determine the height of the object, and display images on the video display representing the object along with a representation of the height of the object relative to the underside section and images representing the underside section of the vehicle.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in traversing a vehicle transportation network may include determining a codeword based on host vehicle information and remote vehicle information, and wherein the codeword indicates whether an expected path for the remote vehicle and an expected path for the host vehicle are convergent, and traversing a portion of the vehicle transportation network in response to the codeword. Determining the codeword may include determining an orientation sector based on a geodesic between the host vehicle and the remote vehicle, determining relative position information for the host vehicle and the remote vehicle based on the orientation sector, determining relative elevation information for the host vehicle and the remote vehicle based on the remote vehicle information and the host vehicle information, and determining relative heading information for the host vehicle and the remote vehicle based on the remote vehicle information and the host vehicle information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in traversing a vehicle transportation network may include determining a stabilized codeword indicating whether an expected path for the remote vehicle and an expected path for the host vehicle are convergent based on the host vehicle information, the remote vehicle information, and a reference direction, wherein a false negative incorrectly indicating that the expected path for the remote vehicle and the expected path for the host vehicle are divergent on a condition that a difference between a remote vehicle heading angle for the remote vehicle and a reference direction is within a heading approximation offset threshold, is identified as convergent. Traversing a vehicle transportation network may include traversing a portion of the vehicle transportation network in response to the stabilized codeword.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for traffic signal timing estimation are disclosed. Traffic signal timing estimation may include a vehicle identifying transportation network information representing a vehicle transportation network including an intersection. The transportation network information may include expected traffic control device state information corresponding to the intersection, such as an artificial neural network based machine learning model trained for the intersection. The vehicle may identify a route through the vehicle transportation network that includes the intersection based on the expected traffic control device state information and may control the traversal of the vehicle transportation network by the vehicle based on the expected traffic control device state information to minimize one or more operational cost metrics. Training the model may include identifying training data from input data previously generated and stored by a traffic control device controller of the intersection.

Abstract: A vehicle grill shutter system comprising at least one grill shutter and a controller. The grill shutter is movably coupled to a vehicle at a location forward of a radiator of the vehicle.
