    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for providing a basic power to a system in an event that a standby power of power supply units (PSUs) of the system fails. The system comprises a plurality of active components, one or more PSUs, and a power switch. The power switch is connected to a standby power output and a main power output of the PSUs. The power switch can receive status information of the PSUs and determine whether the main power of the PSUs is within a predetermined range. In an event that the standby power of the PSUs fails and the main power of the PSUs is within the predetermined range, the power switch can switch an input power from the standby power to the main power of the PSUs and output a basic power for system use.

    Abstract: An example method to decode an error-correcting code includes receiving a tuple including a seed and a coded packet over a communication channel, and based on the seed, reconstructing a set of pseudorandom coefficients used by an encoder to create the coded packet. The method also includes entering the set of pseudorandom coefficients and the coded packet in a decoding matrix and reducing the decoding matrix to a row echelon form. After reducing the decoding matrix to a row echelon form, the method further includes determining if the decoding matrix is decodable up to a number of rows, reducing the decoding matrix up to the number of rows by backward substitution so a part of the first matrix becomes an identity matrix and a corresponding part of the second matrix comprise source packets, and extracting the source packets from the padded packets.

    Abstract: An apparatus comprising at least one extendable hard drive drawer for replacement and maintenance of at least one hard drive. The apparatus comprises a chassis comprising a front side and a rear side, and a first hard drive carrier and a second hard drive carrier housed within the chassis. The first hard drive carrier can be housed at the front side of the chassis, and the second hard drive carrier can be located behind the first hard drive carrier. The first hard drive carrier and the second hard drive carrier can each be adapted to house at least one hard drive.     Abstract: A battery device is provided. The battery device includes: a battery module, a protection device, a battery management circuit, and a battery protection circuit. The battery module includes one or more battery cells. The battery management circuit is for managing the protection device and charging and discharging of the battery module. When the battery device is in a charging mode, the battery protection circuit periodically checks and calculates a direct current internal resistance (DCIR) of the battery module, and determines a current operation temperature of the battery module and a temperature range corresponding to the current operation temperature. When the battery protection circuit determines that the DCIR is greater than a predetermined multiple of a first threshold corresponding to the temperature range, the battery protection circuit informs the battery management circuit to cut off the protection device.
