Abstract:
Apparatus and method for removal of particles and VOC from an airstream, in which particles carried by the airstream are charged by a corona ionizer and then collected by an electrically enhanced filter downstream of the ionizer. A catalytic filter downstream of the electrically enhanced filter removes VOC as well as ozone generated by the ionizer.
Abstract:
An emissions reduction stack includes a conditioning section, collector section utilizing a Wet Electrostatic Precipitator (WESP), and output section. A chemically active aqueous stream is introduced into an incoming process stream in order to saturate the stream and produce a fog stream wherein water is condensed on the surface of particulates. The process of condensation increases the efficiency of the particulate filtration process conducted by the WESP.
Abstract:
A device for treating exhaust gas containing soot particles includes at least one ionization element for ionizing soot particles, at least one filter element having at least one section to which an electrical potential can be applied, and at least one flow-directing device. The flow-directing device can influence a flow of the exhaust gases in such a way that the soot particles can be prevented from being deposited on at least one electric insulation of the ionization element or of the filter element or can be removed therefrom. Soot particles are therefore effectively prevented from being deposited on electric insulation of exhaust gas cleaning components, thereby preventing short-circuits from being produced and permitting exhaust gas systems to be safely operated.
Abstract:
A method and arrangement to improve animal's biological and/or physical performance by reducing the bioload, defined as biologically active particles in the stable air or within transporter vehicles. The method includes generating a negatively charged electrostatic field operating within the room capturing the particles. The arrangement includes elements for producing a negatively charged electrostatic field capturing air borne particulate matter whereby high voltage >6 kV at low amperage (
Abstract:
A sinter plant gas cleaning system includes a fabric filter device for removing dust particles from a process gas drawn from a sinter strand of a sinter plant. A duct is adapted to allow the process gas drawn from the sinter strand to pass by the fabric filter device. A measurement device measures a concentration of organic compounds of the process gas drawn from the sinter strand. A control system receives a signal from the measurement device and controls the flow of process gas through the duct.
Abstract:
A device for producing an electrical field in an exhaust gas system includes an exhaust gas line in which at least one electrode is disposed. The at least one electrode is in contact with a power supply and is constructed to have at least one metal plate.
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems, and methods for capacitive desalination using segmented electrodes in a flow-through or flow-between configuration. The segmented electrodes constitute layered stack electrode units. Each electrode includes pores into which the target salt water flows. An electrical circuit energizes the electrodes and produces an electrical field acting on the target salt water producing desalted water. The segmented electrodes provide ultra-thin cells into a robust framework necessary for desalination applications which yield orders of magnitude faster desalination.
Abstract:
A collecting electrode for use in wet electrostatic precipitators, the collecting electrode being fabricated from an electrically-conductive, corrosion resistant and temperature and spark resistant composite material comprising carbon fiber and thermosetting resin so as to pro\ the collecting electrode with an improved arc resistance, as dictated by erosion density and direction, by controlling the weave pattern and/or fabric thickness of the carbon fibers.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for reducing waste effluent from a system including a boiler and a wet electrostatic precipitator, the waste effluent having blow down water discharged by the boiler during a blow down operation and bleed water discharged by the wet electrostatic precipitator. The method includes collecting the blow down water and providing it to the wet electrostatic precipitator as a makeup water supplement, evaporating a portion the bleed water and leaving residual bleed water, providing the evaporated bleed water to the wet electrostatic precipitator as a further makeup water supplement, and using the residual bleed water to quench ash produced by combustion of solid fuel by the boiler. The apparatus includes an evaporator that provides direct contact between hot boiler flue gas and the bleed water such that a portion of the flue gas is quenched before being provided to the wet electrostatic precipitator.
Abstract:
An air filtration system includes a frame directing an airflow through the air filtration system and a power supply. An ionization array is located in the frame across the airflow and connected to the power supply. The power supply provides a first voltage to the ionization array. A field wire is located in the frame downstream from the ionization array and is energized to a second voltage only by an electrical energy discharge from the ionization array. A method of operating an electrically enhanced air filtration system includes energizing an ionization array, located across an airflow through the air filtration system, to a first voltage via electrical power supplied by a power supply. Electrical energy is discharged from the ionization array into the airflow. A field wire downstream of the ionization array is energized to a second voltage only by the discharge of electrical energy from the ionization array.
