摘要: A flow regulating valve for a diesel engine in which a unitary valve element has three positions for controlling flow from a unit injector fuel injection system in response to valve inlet pressure. The valve has a first position wherein flow is blocked below about 10 psi, a second position between about 10 psi and 20 psi wherein flow is substantially unrestricted, and a third position above about 20 psi wherein flow is restricted to minimize return flow to a fuel supply and minimize fuel cooling requirements.

摘要: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program are provided to utilize built-in self test (BIST) latches for multiple purposes. Conventionally, BIST latches are single purpose. Hence, separate latches are utilized for array built-in self test (ABIST) and logic built-in self test (LBIST) operations. By having the separate latches, though, a substantial amount area is lost. Therefore, to better utilize the latches and the area, ABIST latches are reconfigured to utilize some previously unused ports to allow for multiple uses for the latches, such as for LBIST.

摘要: The present generally relates to apparatus and methods for instrumentation associated with a downhole deployment valve or a separate instrumentation sub. In one aspect, a DDV in a casing string is closed in order to isolate an upper section of a wellbore from a lower section. Thereafter, a pressure differential above and below the closed valve is measured by downhole instrumentation to facilitate the opening of the valve. In another aspect, the instrumentation in the DDV includes sensors placed above and below a flapper portion of the valve. The pressure differential is communicated to the surface of the well for use in determining what amount of pressurization is needed in the upper portion to safely and effectively open the valve. Additionally, instrumentation associated with the DDV can include pressure, temperature, and proximity sensors to facilitate the use of not only the DDV but also telemetry tools.

摘要: Methods for heat treating glass sheets (13) are disclosed in which the sheets (13) are held in a vertical orientation in a treatment container (15) during the heat treatment. The container (15) includes a support system for the glass sheets (13) that comprises a bottom support (17), two side supports (19a, 19b), and a top support (21). The sheets (13) are slid into the container (15) without contact between their side edges (23a, 23b) and the side supports (19a, 19b). The top support (21) is then slid onto the tops of the sheets (13) without contacting the sheets' top edges (25). In certain embodiments, flushing air which has been HEPA filtered and pre-heated is passed through the container (15) during the heat treatment. Apparatus for practicing the methods of the invention are also disclosed.

摘要: A fastening apparatus adapted for use with chock and a roll which locates within the chock such that a first end of the roll projects through and beyond a first end of the chock and a second end of the chock is located relative to the roll. The apparatus comprises a housing, a piston movably situated within the housing to allow a plurality of circumferentially spaced locating portions of the piston to be retained within the housing or to project through corresponding openings in the housing, pressure means provided within the housing to act on the piston, and at least one fastening member attached to the housing. In an operative position of the apparatus the housing is placed between the first end of the chock and the first end of the roll, and the pressure means acts between the piston, forcing the locating portions of the piston into location with the first end of the chock, and forcing the at least one fastening member into location with the first end of the roll. Thus the first end of the roll is forced away from the first end of the chock and, with location of the second end of the chock relative to the roll, the chock and roll are fastened relative to each other.

摘要: There is provided a method for treating the surface of metals such as nickel based or high alloy steels, austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, copper and aluminum alloys to increase their corrosion resistance by modification of the metal surfaces to inhibit cathodic corrosion processes. In a single step treatment process the metals are immersed into a heated aqueous composition containing a rare earth salt substantially free of any halide compound. Increased corrosion resistance is obtained using nitrates of yttrium, gadolinium, cerium, europium, terbium, samarium, neodymium, praseodymium, lanthanum, holmium, ytterbium, dysprosium, and erbium nitrates. The rare earth salt is present in the range from about 2% by weight to saturation of the solution. The composition includes a pH-modifying substance such as nitric acid to adjust the pH in the range 0.5 to about 6.5 to attack the surface to remove oxides facilitating deposition of the rare earth. For aluminum alloys the pH is maintained between 4.5 to 6.5, for nickel based alloys and austenitic stainless steels the pH is maintained between 0.5 to 3.5 and between pH 2.0 to 4.5 for ferritic stainless steels. The surface can also be conditioned by abrasion before or during immersion in the composition. Increased corrosion resistance is achieved by immersion for time periods in the range of a few minutes up to one hour with the composition maintained between 60 to 95.degree. C. Cerium, gadolinium, neodymium and praseodymium nitrate when used alone produced the greatest degree of corrosion resistance compared to the other rare earth nitrates. Significant synergistic effects are observed when combinations of two or more rare earth nitrates are used in the compositions. Aqueous treatment solutions based on combinations of cerium nitrate, gadolinium nitrate and lanthanum nitrate are very effective in reducing crevice corrosion.

摘要: An array of foliage contacting rods having a certain stiffness and trunk contacting rods having a greater stiffness is assembled in combination for mounting on an oscillatory shaker head configured to be carried over row cultivated crops by a mobile harvester to effect crop harvesting by both foliage shaking and trunk shaking using a single shaker head. Moreover, the number of rods of each type may be varied to suit harvesting conditions while the oscillatory shaker head remains in place in the mobile harvester and the stiffness of each rod is adjustable within limits to further conform to harvesting conditions. The rod array in one embodiment provides simultaneous harvesting of multiple rows of a crop cultivated in parallel row configuration.
