Abstract:
Methods for treating a renal associated disease condition in a subject are provided. The subject methods are characterized by modulating at least one portion of the subject's autonomic nervous system in a manner effective to treat a renal condition in the subject. Specifically, the methods may include modulating, e.g., increasing, a parasympathetic/sympathetic activity ratio in the subject. Also provided are compositions, kits and systems for practicing the subject methods.
Abstract:
A complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) voltage regulator for low headroom applications includes a differential input common mode range amplifier. The differential input common mode range amplifier is formed by a plurality of CMOS transistors. A source follower CMOS transistor is coupled to an output of the differential input common mode range amplifier for providing an output of the CMOS voltage regulator. A current source is coupled to the differential input common mode range amplifier for maintaining a bias current through the differential input common mode range amplifier.
Abstract:
Machines useful for wind turbine and ship propulsion purposes include a double-sided generator or motor with two concentric air gaps. In one embodiment, the machine includes a double-sided rotor with an inner rotor side and an outer rotor side; and a stator with an inner stator core and an outer stator core, wherein the double-sided rotor is concentrically disposed between the inner stator core and the outer stator core.
Abstract:
The present invention is a telecommunication device with an auto-configurable capability that supports both serial and parallel data interfaces. The telecommunication device can transfer configuration data through a serial interface such as I2C interface and a parallel interface such as UPI. The telecommunication device can auto-configure through the I2C interface in master mode. The selectable configuration data stored in a second memory device is fetched by the telecommunication device through the I2C interface.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a shaped container bottom for containing a plurality of curved snack pieces where the container bottom comprises a bottom panel. The bottom panel has a concave-shape about a major axis of the container. The concave bottom panel conforms to the shape the snack piece without the snack piece resting upon the bottom panel. Also disclosed is a shaped container bottom for containing a plurality of curved snack pieces where the container bottom comprises a bottom panel. The bottom panel further comprises a plurality of flat portions and a bottom panel center disposed between the flat portions. The bottom panel center conforms to the shape of the snack pieces.
Abstract:
A system and methods for efficiently performing media writing functions is disclosed. The system and methods include: detecting media movement with respect to a base and heads during reading and writing, and moving the heads in response; using an interferometer, such as a dual beam differential interferometer, to dynamically monitor disk position and address perceived errors; and minimizing repeatable and non repeatable runout error by writing data, such as servo bursts, in multiple revolutions to average adverse runout conditions. The present system has the ability to use an interferometer to enhance media certification and perform on line, in situ monitoring of the media, and includes shrouding, head mounting, disk biasing, and related mechanical aspects beneficial to media writing.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions for at least maintaining plasticity in a system of a subject are provided. Embodiments of the subject methods include lowering long term potentiation in said subject in a manner effective to at least maintain plasticity of a system in said subject.
Abstract:
A power switching apparatus comprising a current transformer with coupled primary and secondary windings, the primary windings being adapted for series connection between alternate current power source and load, the primary windings comprising first and second sub-primary windings of different number of turns of windings and respectively of a larger and a smaller core diameter, a current conduction path being provided from intermediate the first and the second sub-primary windings to the power switching means so that upon detection of a current exceeding the current rating of the second sub-primary windings, current will be caused to flow from alternate current power source to load via a current loop comprising the power switching means and the first sub-primary windings only.
Abstract:
A feedback active noise cancellation headphone is disclosed. A plurality of microphone sensors are disposed in front of the left and the right speakers of the headphone for improving the sound reception quality of the microphone sensors, so that the active noise controlling circuit generates an inverse phase soundwave accurately for countering the low frequency noise, and further to improve the noise reduction performance of the active noise cancellation headphone.
