Abstract: Because of the increase of the obesity related diseases, it is desirable to be able to detect a fatty liver and quantify the content in fat for the fatty liver. Known methods are biopsy and magnetic resonance imaging. However, biopsy is an invasive method and magnetic resonance imaging is a complicated method to carry out. The inventors propose a new ultrasonic method which is more compliant with a regular control of the content in fat for the fatty liver for a subject. This method notably relies on a smart exploitation of the coherence properties of ultrasound pulses applied to the liver. This method has already been validated on sane subjects as providing accurate measurements, notably for fat content.

Abstract: Rett syndrome (RTT) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects girls almost exclusively (about 1 in 10 000 females). It is characterized by normal early growth and development followed by a slowing of development, loss of purposeful use of the hands, distinctive hand movements, slowed brain and head growth, problems with walking, seizures, and intellectual disability. Herein, the inventors demonstrated that delivering a vector expressing a cholesterol 24-hydroxylase (CYP46A1) gene intravenously in a mouse model of RTT is able to prevent/correct the development of motor impairment, in a mild and an aggravated model of the disease both in male and female mice. In addition in males, the inventors demonstrated a prevention of the loss of Purkinje cells and an improvement of astrogliosis and microgliosis in the mild KO MECP2 model. Thus, the present invention relates to a vector for use in the treatment of Rett syndrome or related autism spectrum disorder, which vector comprises cholesterol 24-hydroxylase encoding nucleic acid.

In the present work, the inventors aimed to develop a test that could drastically simplify and improve the diagnosis of CMMRD based on DNA sequence analysis of primary blood cells (PBCs) from patients. Using massive parallel sequencing, they explored the possibility that MSI, the main genomic and functional consequence of constitutive MMR-deficiency, was likely to occur in CMMRD PBCs well before any transformation. Thus the present invention relates to a method of diagnosing a CMMRD cancer or a MSI leukemia/lymphoma in a patient in need thereof.
