Abstract:
A method for availing participants and others in a special number call event of information contained in a plurality of data stores includes the steps of: (a) in no particular order: (1) providing the plurality of data stores; (2) providing at least one respective data key for accessing the information contained in each respective data store of the plurality of data stores; and (3) providing communications among the participants and the plurality of data stores; (b) identifying a respective call as initiating a special number call event; (c) generating an identifier code for uniquely identifying the special number call event; the identifier code including relational data; the relational data being mappable on the at least one the respective data key to effect accessing the information; and (d) employing the communications to effect cooperation by the identifier code with each respective data store for providing the information to the participants.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for flexibly loading an application, e.g., a software application, and associated data from an application provider (101) onto a tamper resistant module (TRM) (103) having an I/O buffer (115) and a memory (119). A method embodiment of the invention comprises determining (501) the size of the TRM's I/O buffer (115), segmenting (503) the application to be loaded and its associated data into a plurality of segments, with each segment adapted to be stored in the I/O buffer (115) and the size of each segment being a function of the determined size of the I/O buffer (115), separately transmitting (505) each segment to the tamper resistant module (103), and storing (603) each separately transmitted segment in a selected one of one or more available spaces of the TRM's memory (119), said spaces selected depending upon the size of each segment and upon which of said available spaces has the smallest available area in the TRM's memory (119) in which the segment can be stored.
Abstract:
A plastic transmission filter (1) composed of mating upper (2) and lower (3) shells of synthetic resin material with at least one set of registering weld posts (10) extending between inner surfaces of the upper and lower shells; a fluid pervious centertube (4) interposed between the mating shells around the weld posts, and a filter material (5) wrapped around the centertube to form a bag filter. The filter assembly can be welded together in a single vibration welding operation and provides enhanced flow of transmission fluid by avoiding flow restrictions caused by prior art reinforcement poles.
Abstract:
A valve for controlling a flow of abrasive particles suspended in a pressurized carrier fluid has at least two apertured valve seats (74, 75) in face to face contact. One of the valve seats (74, 75) may be slid between a first position in which the apertures of each valve seat (74, 75) are aligned to allow fluid flow and a second position in which the aperture is one valve seat (74, 75) is blocked by the face of another (75, 74) to stop flow through the valve. The valve seats (74, 75) each have an outer layer of material with a hardness on the Mohs scale of at least 9, such as diamond. The valve is suitable for use in a fluid jet machining apparatus, particularly apparatus charged with a suspension of abrasive particles such as garnet in water.
Abstract:
A biopsy needle includes an outer cannula and an inner cannula. The inner cannula includes a distal end and a proximal end. The outer cannula is shaped and dimensioned to closely circumscribe the inner cannula for movement relative thereto. The inner cannula further includes a sample recess at its distal end, the sample recess including a U-shaped cutting edge defined by pn=xn cos θ qn=xn sin θwhere, θ is an angle at which the cutting edge is formed. xn is an actual length position along the sample recess, pn is a length position of the sample recess relative to the cutting edge along a line substantially parallel to an inner cannula longitudinal axis, and qn is a depth position of the sample recess relative to an apex of an arc defined by a cutting edge.
Abstract:
A needle stick protection device includes a housing and a locking member positioned within the housing to permit the selective locking of the needle relative to the housing. The locking member includes a spring biased strip having first and second upwardly extending arms connected by a central base member. The first and second upwardly extending arms are biased relative to each other and respectively include a first needle aperture and second needle aperture. A release member is associated with the locking member for facilitating the controlled release of a needle locked in position by the locking member. The release member engages the first upwardly extending arm and the second upwardly extending arm such that selective movement of the release member causes the first and second upwardly extending arms to move between a first locking position in which the first and second upwardly extending arms are angled relative to each other and a second release position in which the first and second upwardly extending arms are substantially parallel. In use, the first and second needle apertures are oriented to permit the free passage of a needle therethrough when the locking member is in its second release position and the first and second needle apertures are oriented to lock the needle relative to the locking member when the first and second upwardly extending arms are in their first locking position.
Abstract:
A two-stage method for the preparation of polyol fatty acid polyesters is provided. The resulting polyol fatty acid polyesters are very lightly colored (i.e., colorless to slightly yellow) and have a high degree of substitution with fatty acid groups. The first stage of this two-stage method is a solvent-based esterification reaction; the second stage is an essentially solvent-free esterification reaction. In the first stage, a polyol in a solvent (e.g., sucrose in dimethylsulfoxide)) is reacted with fatty acid lower alkyl esters at relatively low temperatures using an alkaline salt catalyst. After the desired degree of esterification is obtained, the resulting partially-esterified polyol fatty acid polyesters and the solvent-containing phase are separated. The separated partially-esterified polyol fatty acid polyesters are further esterified with the same or different fatty acid lower alkyl esters in a second stage with an alkaline salt catalyst using essentially solvent-free, high temperature conditions whereby the degree of substitution is significantly increased. Most of the color bodies and other contaminants capable of producing color are removed with the solvent in the first stage and, therefore, are not present during the higher temperature reaction conditions of the second stage. The resulting polyol fatty acid polyesters, and in particular the sucrose fatty acid polyesters, are especially useful as fat substitutes in food applications and products.
Abstract:
An integrated mass air flow sensor/broadband silencer assembly comprises a molded body having a plurality of walls formed therein. The molded body is over-wrapped with a layer of acoustic foam that, together with the plurality of walls, define a plurality of chambers within an interior volume of the assembly. A mass air flow sensor can be inserted into one of the chambers. The chambers are sized and spaced to provide a uniform velocity, low turbulence air flow to the sensor, and a minimally-restricted air flow to an internal combustion engine located downstream of the assembly.
Abstract:
An improved nebulizer places a venturi in a rainfall chamber and in close proximity to or inside a patient's oral cavity. One or more medicine feed lines feeds the medicine to a location proximate to a venturi. The rainfall chamber contains a sump communicating with the venturi for collecting medication not delivered to the patient and for recycling that medication for delivery to the patient. A medicine receiver may be pre-filled with a standard unit dose of medication.
Abstract:
A seal arrangement for a secondary air charging system includes a seal sealing a gap between an intake opening of the secondary air charging system and a downstream surface of an air intake filter.
