Abstract: An intradermal injection device comprises a housing, a foot with an opening for passage of a needle; a reservoir movably mounted in the housing, and having a hollow space for holding a fluid; a hollow needle movably mounted in the housing and having a first end for penetrating the subject's skin and a second end for penetrating the reservoir, a plunger movably mounted in the housing for moving the needle through the opening for penetrating the subject's skin, and for pressing the fluid out of the reservoir. The reservoir is frictionally mounted inside the housing by first friction means, and the plunger is frictionally mounted to the reservoir by second friction means. The force to overcome the second friction is larger than the force to overcome the first friction.

Abstract: A method for determining a projection angle for use in tomographic imaging comprises obtaining projection data including at least one projection view from at least one projection angle. The at least one projection view is generated by scanning a test object with a tomographic imaging device. Each projection view comprises at least one observation value obtained at least one detection location, providing a plurality of candidate projection angles, for each candidate projection angle, calculating a function value indicative of an amount of information that may be gained by adding to the projection data a further projection view generated by scanning of the test object with the tomographic imaging device from the candidate projection angle, and selecting a candidate projection angle from the plurality of candidate projection angles taking into account the function values. A corresponding system and computer program product also is provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a drug release formulation, in particular a sustained release formulation for ophthalmic applications and a method of preparing same. The method is based on the hydration of a given solid polymeric matrix material under mild conditions, allowing versatility with respect to the drug to be formulated. Both said solid polymeric matrix material as well the API hydrated formulation is an object of the present invention. The thus obtained material is particularly suitable for prolonged and sustained delivery of medication to the eye. Thus in a further aspect, the present invention provides the use of said solid polymeric matrix material as well the API hydrated formulation, in ophthalmic applications.

Abstract: A device is arranged for imparting an orbital angular momentum to a charged particle wave propagating along an axis in a charged particle beam generating apparatus. Abstract: A second-order nonlinear optical device, includes (i) an active layer and (ii) an electric field generator. The active layer includes a matrix material, and second-order nonlinear optical chromophores dispersed in the matrix material. Each chromophore has a conjugated system having at least a first nitrogen atom connected to a second nitrogen atom via a conjugated path and a positive charge localized on one of the nitrogen atoms. The chromophore is switchable between a first state in which the positive charge is localized on the first nitrogen atom and a second state in which the positive charge is localized on the second nitrogen atom, and under thermal equilibrium both states are populated. The electric field generator is for switching at least some of the chromophores from the first state to the second state or from the second state to the first state, or to reorient at least some of the chromophores.
