Abstract:
In a personal watercraft with a watercraft body including a hull forming a bottom portion and a deck covering the hull from above, a magnet box is integrally combined with a battery storage tray. The watercraft also includes an engine disposed within the watercraft body, and a saddle-type seat disposed above the engine. A magnet box, including a main box body and a lid member, sealingly stores an electromagnetic starter switch therein, and is disposed in front of a battery storage tray, in order to reduce the distance between the magnetic starter switch and a starter motor. The main box body is formed integrally with a battery storage tray which is disposed in back of the engine and fixedly disposed on a floor portion of the watercraft body. The lid member is adapted to sealingly close the main box body of the magnet box in a fluid-tight manner.
Abstract:
An automatic transmission assembly having a transmission unit including a plurality of gear pairs, a shift drum, a pair of clutches; and a controller. The controller performs a preliminary upshifting action in advance for angularly moving the shift drum depending on a next gear position in an upshifting direction while rotary drive power is being maintained at a given gear position, and when an upshifting command is output, the controller engages one of the clutches simultaneously with the command. When a downshifting command is output, the controller performs a preliminary downshifting action in advance based on the downshifting command. The partially neutral positions are provided between predetermined angular positions on the shift drum for temporarily reducing the angular speed of the shift drum when the shift drum is being angularly rotated.
Abstract:
A portable electronic key easily findable even if dropped into water. The portable electronic key includes an upper cover and a lower cover, a hermetically sealed space is formed, in which electrical equipment such as a board, a battery, and an antenna are arranged. The upper cover and the lower cover are formed of foam resin, and a grain pattern is given to surfaces thereof. A specific gravity of the entire electronic key is set at 1 or less, thus enabling the portable electronic key to float on the surface of the water.
Abstract:
A GPS-based vehicle navigation system and method for properly displaying direction guide information, which represents a target direction, regardless of forward motion or backward motion. The system calculates the current position of the vehicle, and senses the traveling direction of the vehicle. The operation mode of the system is determined. If the operation mode is a “compass mode”, the orientation of the traveling direction is calculated based on the current position and the traveling direction. On the other hand, if the operation mode is a “NAVI mode”, a target position T separately set is read, and a target direction is calculated based on the current position and the target position T. Next, it is determined whether the motion of the vehicle is forward or backward. If the motion of the vehicle is backward, the direction guide information is corrected by an angle equivalent to 180°.
Abstract:
A lean detector for a vehicle is capable of reducing the cost of the parts of a lean sensor and enhancing the waterproof property thereof. The lean detector also detects when the leaning of the vehicle body has reached a prescribed angle in the right, left, front or rear direction. The lean sensor is installed at a position above a bottom end of a baseplate of the seat of a saddle-ride type four-wheeled vehicle.
Abstract:
A large number of relays are concentrated in a limited space to utilize the space effectively. A relay box containing a large number of relays can be disposed in a narrow space between a rear fender and a seat bottom plate. The relays are mounted on three substrates within the relay box. Plural relays are arranged in a line on each of the substrates and the substrates are arranged in a stepped fashion like stairs. Therefore, the relay box is substantially in the shape of a parallelogram, and thus can be disposed in a narrow space along the rear fender of a vehicle. Conductors of the relays are drawn out along the rear fender.
Abstract:
An electrical component mounting structure for a personal watercraft which simplifies a waterproof treatment of the electrical components. The structure includes an exhaust outlet of the exhaust pipe formed on one side of the body of the personal watercraft in a lateral direction. In this personal watercraft, a plurality of electrical components is disposed in the body so as to be offset on the one side from a central portion in the lateral direction. In other words, none of these electrical components is disposed in the vicinity of a wall surface on the other side of the body. The electrical components are preferably disposed in the body at an intermediate portion in the vertical direction, and at least one of a plurality of the electrical components is preferably mounted to a side wall constituting the one side of the body.
Abstract:
To provide an auto-cruise canceling device for maintaining a good operating response of the vehicle. A DC servo-motor is used as an actuator for regulating a throttle opening during auto-cruising. When a throttle grip is turned during regulation of the throttle opening by the servo-motor, namely, during a cruising state, a turning force transmitted to a throttle drum through a throttle cable causes a variation in the load on the motor. An ECU detects load variations based on the current in the servo-motor. If the load variation is not less than a predetermined value, it is judged that a rider's cruise canceling action has been made, and bias of the servo-motor is stopped, thereby canceling the cruising state.
Abstract:
A battery mounting structure for use on saddle-type electric vehicles which contributes to an increase in the rigidity of a vehicle body frame and attempts to achieve an increased battery carrying capability. Each of battery modules is in the form of a quadrangular prism having long sides and short sides as viewed in plan and vertical sides longer than the long sides. A vehicle frame includes a bulging region in which each of main frames bulges outwardly from a head pipe as viewed in plan and a narrow region in which the distance between the main frames is reduced behind the bulging region. The battery modules include battery modules whose long sides extend along transverse directions of the vehicle in the bulging region and battery modules whose long sides extend along longitudinal directions of the vehicle in the narrow region.
