    摘要: A radio access network element (101) obtains a permanent subscriber identity (IMSI) of a User Equipment (103) in an LTE wireless communication system (100) by sending a “fake” service reject message to a User Equipment which has attempted to attach to a cell (102) in a request for services message which includes its S-TMSI. The reject message may include a cause code which results in the UE attempting to attach again, this time using its IMSI. The fake service reject message may be generated in a an eNode B serving one or more macrocells or a evolved Home Node B serving a small cell.

    摘要: A communication system comprising a core network operably coupled to a small base station (HNB) arranged to support wireless communications to a user equipment UE is described. The HNB comprises a control processor being arranged in a first embodiment to: support setting up of an air interface connection with the UE to allow the UE and the core network to exchange messages, e.g. for a Location Update procedure and to receive an instruction from the core network via a core network connection to release the connection to the core network; usually, the HNB would transmit a RRC Connection Release message to the UE; however, the UE utilizes this situation to request and receive UE measurements by using RRC Measurement Control/Report messages and thus delays the initiation of the RRC Connection Release procedure towards the UE; in a second embodiment, the control processor is arranged to autonomously page the UE: thus, the UE establishes a RRC connection for responding to the paging message and the HNB may request receive UE measurements

    摘要: A TAI (Tracking Area Identifier) assigned to a small, ‘presence’ cell (106), which is different from that assigned to a neighbouring cell (101), forces a User Equipment (105) entering the presence cell's coverage area to attempt to register with the presence cell. The presence cell forwards the registration request (which includes the UE's temporary subscriber identity and the identity of the most recently serving Mobility Management Entity) to an additional network node (107) that appears as a Mobility Management Entity to other MMEs in the network. The network node then generates a request for the permanent subscriber identity of the UE and sends it to the most recently serving MME (103). The received permanent identity can be forwarded to a presence analytics server (108) for presence purposes. In some examples, use is made of the relevant ‘Context Request’ or ‘Identification Request’ message and ‘Tracking Area Update’ message or ‘Attach Request’ message to obtain details of the UE despite the fact that it has not completed authentication with the presence cell.

    摘要: The invention facilitates the implementation of clusters of small cells or radio heads or Home Node Bs (HNB) (102, 103, 104) managed by a local standard-Iuh enterprise gateway, connected to a standard release 8/9 HNB-GW. The enterprise gateway sends an HNB Registration Request corresponding to each small cell or radio head that it manages to a Home Node B Gateway over the standard Iuh interface, thereby presenting a single logical interface to the Home Node B Gateway (HNB-GW) that appears to the HNB-GW as a collection of Iuh-standard HNBs. This provides the enterprise gateway with a set of call processing and radio resources that it can implement as it wishes, but using standard messaging to control the HNBGW's view of those resources. A further advantage of the invention is the ability to permit hand-in of a user equipment from a macrocell to a small cell.
