摘要： An ink jet printer has a sheet conveying and drying device having a plurality of flexible, resilient yet stiff fingers connected in a cantilevered manner to a drive chain which moves the fingers from a printed sheet receiving tray to a sheet stacking tray. After sheets are printed by a conventional ink jet printing head, the sheets are picked off of the printed sheet receiving tray and fed to a sheet stacking tray. The printed sheets are dried while being fed from the printed sheet receiving tray to the sheet stacking tray. After the printed sheets are picked off of the fingers at the sheet stacking tray, the chain drive continues to move the fingers in a counterclockwise direction along the chain path. The resilient, flexible fingers are deformed by upper and lower guide rollers, a stacking tray and a rear separating wall and are flicked back into a sheet receiving position at the printed sheet receiving tray. The speed at which the chain drive moves the fingers can be varied to ensure that the images are dried by the time they reach the sheet stacking tray.

摘要： A copier/printer having a transfer station for transferring images from an imaging member to copy sheets includes the improvement of removing debris from within the copier/printer by locating baffles and vacuum ports within the copier/printer to cause deposition, collection and removal of debris and other contaminants in specified locations. An electrical bias is selectively applied to at least some of the baffles to electrostatically attract the contaminants thereon. The vacuum ports are connected to a vacuum source that could operate continuously or intermittently at start-up or shutdown.

摘要： A transport system for transporting a recording sheet having liquid ink deposited thereon through a dryer for drying the liquid ink having an input portion and an output portion. The transport system includes a transport belt disposed between the input portion and the output portion for transporting the recording sheet through the dryer. A negative pressure member is located beneath the belt and defines a negative pressure chamber. The pressure member decreases the pressure within the pressure member so that a non-uniform negative pressure is applied to the recording sheet during transport through the dryer. A directing member located within a plenum directs differing negative pressures within the plenum such that negative pressures decrease in amplitude along the transport direction. The application of a negative pressure within the plenum also tends to reduce or remove evaporated liquid driven from the inks during drying. This removal of evaporated liquid prevents or reduces the occurrence of a phenomenon known as "dryer rain". Dryer rain results from the accumulation of evaporated liquids within the dryer which eventually condenses sufficiently to fall within the dryer back onto the recorded sheet.

The matched load includes a waveguide having opposed broad walls, opposed narrow walls, and an end wall defining a waveguide chamber. A power absorbing body made of sintered silicon carbide, casted silicon carbide, or other materials is disposed in the waveguide chamber. One or more of the walls includes means for transferring heat from the power absorbing body. A housing or shroud having an inlet and an outlet surrounds the waveguide. The means for removing heat is disposed between the inlet and outlet of the housing so that a cooling medium passed through the housing removes heat from the power absorbing body. A tuning stub is placed in front of the power absorbing body to reduce microwave reflections.

摘要： A copier/printer having a transfer station for transferring images from an imaging member to copy sheets includes the improvement of removing debris from the surfaces of copy sheets facing the imaging member before the copy sheets reach the transfer station. At least a pair of cooperating rolls are positioned to form a nip for driving the copy sheets therebetween toward the transfer station. The cooperating rolls include a drive roll and a dielectric roll with the dielectric roll being electrostatically charged by the drive roll and paper through contact and separation during the intercopy gaps between copy sheets in transit to the transfer station through contact with the copy sheets to electrostatically attract debris from the copy sheets.

摘要： A multipurpose filtering material particularly for use in electrostatographic reproducing apparatus has a foraminous support matrix having a plurality of interconnecting voids to permit low impedance to the flow of gaseous material but sufficient to trap particulate material entrained in the gaseous material which is coated with a thin dehydrated alkaline film of an alkali metal silicate to neutralize nitrogen oxide species in the gaseous material and has adhesively bound thereto a particulate neutralizer for another noxious gas the surface of which is substantially exposed to the flow of gaseous material. A filter may be placed in electrostatographic reproducing apparatus at the inlet or outlet of an air stream passing therethrough to neutralize nitrogen oxide species and ozone generated by the corona discharge device, and ammonia from the incoming air.
