The optical scanner has a photosensitive apparatus with a set of scan photosensitive devices and a storage apparatus. When the object is scanned by the set of scan photosensitive devices, a scanned image is obtained and saved in the storage apparatus temporarily. The compensation apparatus has a set of calibration boards, a set of calibration photosensitive devices and an image processor. The set of calibration boards has two calibration boards located at two sides of the platform. The set of calibration photosensitive devices is located at two sides of the set of scan photosensitive device. The image processor is used to extract and compare the calibrated image, so as to adjust the scanned image.

An optical scanner that may assemble the lens design for varying the focus and resolution, having a light source, a reflection compound mirror, a charge coupled device, a basic objective lens and a compound lens. The basic objective lens is designed by simulation software. According to the lens design theory, the compound lens is designed. By incorporating the basic objective lens and the compound lens, different resolutions such as 1200 dpi, 1600 dpi and 2400 dpi of the optical scanner are obtained without redesigning the lens device, the current specification of the optical scanner is also varied.

A transmission rope for driving movable mirror modules of an image scanning device is disclosed. One end of the transmission rope is located at a locating member. The other end of the transmission rope is first wound on a guide wheel of the second movable mirror module and then held by a rope holder of the first movable mirror module and then the transmission rope is sequentially traveled through several auxiliary guide wheels and a driving motor and then wound back onto the guide wheel of the second movable mirror module and finally fixed at a tension adjuster. The section of the transmission rope between the rope holder of the first movable mirror module and the guide wheel of the second movable mirror module and between the guide wheel of the second movable mirror module and the locating member has better tensile strength than that of the other section of the transmission rope so as to minimize the length deformation during driving the first and second movable mirror modules.

A changeable resolution apparatus and method for scanner includes two rotational disks which have respectively a plurality of lenses of different focuses and a plurality of charge-coupled devices (CCD) of different resolutions located therein. A motor is provided to drive a transmission shaft to rotate in a positive or a reverse direction. Two one-way shaft bearings are engaged with the transmission shaft to drive the rotational disks one-way in opposite directions for changing lens and CCD combination to reach different resolutions. The apparatus is located in the scanner for users to adjust scanner resolution based on scanning requirements to get optimum resolution result.
