Abstract: Techniques for managing communications between access points and stations (STAs) are described herein. An access point broadcasts a trigger message to a plurality of STAs, the trigger message includes a matrix defining a plurality of resource units (RUs) that the plurality of STAs are assigned to transmit or receive data. The matrix accomplishes time division multiplexing by assigning timeslots to a plurality of STAs. The matrix accomplishes frequency division multiplexing by also assigning frequency tones to the plurality of STAs.

Abstract: Enhanced network level information for power control is described. The enhanced network level information enables network connected electronic devices to enter and exit standby modes based on system level information. The network level information also enables the use of a respective network connected device in a seamless manner from the perspective of the user, while decreasing the amount of energy consumed by the device when not in active operation. In some examples, a Network Monitoring Application (NMA) classifies electronic devices into power control categories, monitors a physical environment associated with the plurality of connected electronic devices, and provides a power control signal to the various electronic devices upon detection of a change in the physical environment.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an access point of an overhead mesh of access points in an area selects a range of client identifiers. The access point sends, via a beam cone transmitted in a substantially downward direction towards a floor of the area, a trigger signal that includes the range of client identifiers and prompts client devices having identifiers in that range to send best effort transmissions towards the overhead mesh. The access point detects a collision between the best effort transmissions of the client devices. The access point adjusts the range of client identifiers so as to avoid future collisions between the best effort transmissions of the client devices.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a device identifies a path of travel of a mobile system. The device subdivides the path of travel into a plurality of zones. The device generates time-slotted channel hopping schedules for the plurality of zones, each time-slotted channel hopping schedule having an associated zone among the plurality of zones. The device causes the mobile system to communicate wirelessly with networking infrastructure located along the path of travel, in accordance with a particular one of the time-slotted channel hopping schedules while the mobile system is located in its associated zone.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a wireless network in which an access point determines and selects alternative devices to make transmissions for energy harvesting purposes. The access point includes a memory and a processor communicatively coupled to the memory. The processor determines, based on a proximity of a first device to a second device, that the second device should harvest energy from a message transmitted by the first device, determines a first basic service set (BSS) color that the first device and the second device should use for the second device to harvest energy from the message, and communicates, to the first device, an instruction to use the first BSS color when transmitting the message.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a device sends data traffic to a gateway of a backhaul mesh network via a first wireless access point of the backhaul mesh network. The device maintains, while associated with the first wireless access point, an association with a second wireless access point of the backhaul mesh network by sending a frame to the first wireless access point that is relayed by the first wireless access point to the second wireless access point. The device makes a determination that additional data traffic should be sent to the gateway of the backhaul mesh network via the second wireless access point. Abstract: In one embodiment, a controller identifies access points forming an overhead mesh of access points in an area, each access point comprising one or more directional transmitters each configured to transmit a beam cone in a substantially downward direction towards a floor of the area. The controller determines coverage areas on the floor of the area for the one or more directional transmitters of the access points in the overhead mesh. The controller generates, based on the coverage areas, alternating communication schedules for the access points such that a client device at any given location on the floor of the area is within range of a plurality of receiving access points in the overhead mesh and at least one transmitting access point in the overhead mesh at a certain point in time. The controller sends the communication schedules to the access points.
