    Abstract: An antenna device includes: a dielectric substrate formed with a ground plane; a patch antenna having a dominant polarization direction in a predetermined direction on the dielectric substrate; at least one patch radiating element for supplying electric power provided on the patch antenna, the at least one patch radiating element being formed on the dielectric substrate; a patch-shaped conductor pattern formed on a substrate front face of the dielectric substrate on which the patch radiating element is formed; a plurality of connection conductors formed to penetrate the dielectric substrate for electrically connecting the conductor pattern to the ground plane; and a conductive structure having the conductor pattern and a plurality of the connection conductors. A plurality of the conductive structures is provided.

    Abstract: A radar device is equipped with a radar emitting section, a radar input section, a detector, and a cover. The radar emitting section radiates an electromagnetic wave. The radar input section receives a return of the electromagnetic wave from an object. The detector works to detect the object using the return of the electromagnetic wave inputted to the radar input section. The cover covers an object portion that is at least one of the radar emitting section and the radar input section. The cover is designed to have a convex lens formed on a portion of the cover through which the electromagnetic wave passes to the object portion. The cover is made in the form of a radome. The structure of such a radome serves to decrease the power consumption of the radar device.

    Abstract: An antenna device 1 has a dielectric substrate 2, a patch antenna 5 and electric power absorbing passive elements 21, 24 formed on a surface of the dielectric substrate. Each electric power absorbing passive element 21, 24 is formed between the patch antenna 5 and an edge portion in a polarized wave direction of the dielectric substrate 2. The electric power absorbing passive elements 21, 24 absorb a part of electric power received by the patch antenna 5. This makes it possible to suppress a surface current flowing to the edge portions of the dielectric substrate on a conductive plate (a front-surface conductor plate 3 or a back surface conductor plate 4) on the dielectric substrate.

    Abstract: An antenna apparatus has an antenna unit. The antenna unit transmits or receives a probe wave made of an electromagnetic wave. A magnet is disposed at a location through which the probe wave to be received by the antenna unit passes. The magnet works to generate a magnetic field along a direction in which the probe wave propagates. A polarizing filter is arranged on an opposite side of a magnetic body to the antenna unit. This minimizes the interference between an emitted wave and a reflected wave created by a cover, such as a bumper, regardless of the configuration of the cover.

    Abstract: An antenna apparatus includes a dielectric substrate, a ground plate, a patch antenna provided with a patch radiating element, and a plurality of EBGs (Electromagnetic Band Gaps). The EBGs are composed of patch-shaped patterns formed on a surface of the substrate and connecting conductors electrically connecting the patch-shaped patterns and the ground plate. Each EBG is arranged to provide an EBG absent region having no EBG on the surface of the substrate. The patch radiating element is arranged within the EBG absent region. The EBG absent region is formed such that distances (absent distances) in a dominant polarized wave direction changes into a plurality of types depending on the position on a vertical patch line, where the distances range, to the boundary of the region, from an arbitrary position on the virtual patch line which is perpendicular to the dominant polarized wave direction of the patch antenna.
