    Abstract: A travel distance estimation device is provided. The travel distance estimation device includes an estimated velocity determination unit that successively estimates an estimated velocity of a movable object based on an acceleration integrated value and a velocity initial value a travel distance calculation unit that successively calculates an estimated travel distance of the movable object based on the estimated velocity, and a past velocity correction unit that determines corrected past velocities by correcting pre-correction past estimated velocities so that the corrected past velocities are continuous with the velocity initial value determined this time. The pre-corrected past estimated velocities are the estimated velocities that were successively determined. The travel distance estimation device further includes a travel distance correction unit that recalculates based on the corrected past velocities an estimated travel distance.

    Abstract: A communication control device used in a terminal device that performs mobile communication is provided. The communication control device controls a communication module of the terminal device to perform direct communication with a different terminal device not via a base station. The communication control device manages whether the communication module is in a search mode or a communication mode, and determines, using information managed, whether a transmission timing of a signal from the communication module determined in accordance with occurrence timing of a transmission event overlaps the search mode. When determining that the transmission timing overlaps the search mode, the communication control device shifts the transmission timing out of the time duration of the search mode.

    Abstract: A velocity estimation device including an acceleration sensor and a yaw rate sensor is provided. The velocity estimation device determines an initial velocity value of a mobile object based on a velocity estimation expression, an integrated value of acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor, and a relative azimuth calculated from detected yaw rates. The velocity estimation device estimates the velocity of the mobile object based on the initial velocity value and the integrated value of acceleration. In the velocity estimation expression, a magnitude of the velocity vector is constrained by the velocity of the mobile object and a time variation of a direction of the velocity vector is constrained by a time variation of the azimuth of the mobile object in the traveling direction.

    Abstract: A communication device is used in a mobile communication system switching alternately two communication time zones of a control channel (CCH) time zone in which communication using a control channel (CCH) is performed and a service channel time zone in which communication using a service channel is performed. A CCH transmission processor section transmits data using the control channel. When a generated data by a data generator section is determined by an importance determiner section to be equivalent to a data having a high-importance level, the generated data is transmitted in the CCH time zone by the CCH transmission processor section. By contrast, when the generated data is determined to be equivalent to a data having a low-importance level, the generated data is transmitted in the SCH time zone by the CCH transmission processor section.

    Abstract: An in-vehicle unit used in each of host vehicles including a subject vehicle and nearby vehicles communicates information using inter-vehicle communication, generates an index data-item including an index value indicating an operational situation of a sensor instrument based on a detection result from the sensor instrument, and transmits the generated index data-item via the wireless communicator. A subject in-vehicle unit used in the subject vehicle includes: a communication processing section that acquires the index data-item from nearby in-vehicle units; a determination criterion specification section successively specifies a different-unit determination criterion based on the acquired index data-item; and a different-unit diagnosis test section that determines whether a sensor instrument in a target nearby in-vehicle unit operates normally, by comparing the different-unit determination criterion with the index data-item acquired from the target nearby in-vehicle unit.
