Polymeric compositions comprising a high-density polyethylene, a crystalline polypropylene, and an olefin block composite. Optical cable components fabricated from an extrudable polymeric composition of high-density polyethylene, a crystalline polypropylene, and an olefin block composite. Optionally, the polymeric composition can further comprise a nucleating agent. The polymeric composition may also contain one or more additives. The optical fiber cable components can be selected from buffer tubes, core tubes, and slotted core tubes, among others.
Abstract:
Plasticizers comprising a dialkyl 2,5-furandicarboxylate and plasticized polymeric compositions comprising such plasticizers. Such plasticized polymeric compositions can be employed in forming various articles of manufacture, such as coated conductors.
Abstract:
Methods for making epoxidized fatty acid alkyl esters. Such epoxidized fatty acid alkyl esters can be prepared by epoxidizing a natural oil with an acid and a peroxide. Residual acid in the epoxidized natural oil is not neutralized, such as with a base, prior to esterification to produce the epoxidized fatty acid alkyl esters. Epoxidized fatty acid alkyl esters can be employed in plasticizers, either alone or in combination with other plasticizers, such as epoxidized natural oils. Such plasticizers in turn may be used in the formation of polymeric compositions.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to acetylated castor components and compositions including the same. The acetylated castor component may be an acetylated castor oil and/or an acetylated castor wax. The acetylated castor component may be blended with an epoxidized fatty acid ester. The present acetylated castor components and blends find advantageous application as a plasticizer.

Abstract:
A method of making a homogeneous mixture of polyolefin solids and liquid additive without melting the polyolefin solids during the making. The method comprises applying acoustic energy at a frequency of from 20 to 100 hertz to a heterogeneous mixture comprising the polyolefin solids and the liquid additive for a period of time sufficient to substantially intermix the polyolefin solids and the liquid additive together and while maintaining temperature of the heterogeneous mixture above the freezing point of the at least one liquid additive and below the melting temperature of the polyolefin solids, thereby making the homogeneous mixture without melting the polyolefin solids.
