摘要: A vacuum forming process, and an apparatus for carrying out the same, for imparting a predetermined shape to a sheet material. The process includes the steps of placing a thermally softened sheet material onto a molding surface of a mold and evacuating air remaining between the molding surface of the mold and the sheet material, thereby bringing the sheet material into a close contact with the molding surface of the surface of the mold. The vacuum forming process and apparatus is adapted for giving a predetermined shape to a sheet material having a low elongation ratio. In particular, when giving a predetermined shape to the sheet material, part of the sheet material is pressed with a pressing member against the molding surface of the mold, a peripheral portion of the sheet material is held with a holding member, and holding forces exerted by a plurality of holding portions of the holding member are varied in order to control movement amounts of the sheet material resulting from a pressing force of the pressing member. In this manner, a predetermined shape can be given to a sheet material without causing wrinkles thereto, even when the sheet material has a low elongation ratio.

摘要: Spray coating is performed utilizing a mixture of refractory material and a combustionable metal powder. The size of the particle of the metal in the mixture is selected so that the particle size is large enough to be treated safely and is small enough to be transported by means of a gas flow. As a carrier gas for carrying the mixture, a non-combustionable gas or fuel gas is used. A fuel gas and a combustion-assisting gas are discharged toward the section to be treated on the surface for directing a combustioning frame. The refractor material with the carrier gas is discharged into the frame established by the fuel gas and the combustion-assisting gas. The average size of the metal particle to be used in the spray coating is limited to be greater than 50 .mu.m. By enlarging the particle size of the metal, combustion of the metal particle becomes difficult. Combustion of such large particle size metal can be assisted by discharging the combustion-assisting gas together with the fuel gas. This compensates combustion efficiency to be dropped by utilizing the larger particle size metal.

摘要: In order to securely hold a moving belt of a continuous casting device against selective movable side walls, a first group of rotatable control rods which are disposed in a first supply header and an adjacent exhaust header are arranged to produce narrow high pressure zones in the film defined between the cooling pad in which the header are formed and the moving belt. These zones can be selectively moved to juxtapose the side walls when the gap between the walls is adjusted. A second group of rotatable control rods which are disposed in second and third supply headers selectively heat the side edges of the belt which are relatively cool as compared with the center section which is exposed to molten metal. As the side walls are moved apart the width of the edge sections which are exposed to pre-heated coolant can be reduced and the amount of normal temperature coolant applied thereto also increased.

摘要: A method of stirring molten metal by repeatedly sucking and rapidly discharging part of the molten metal into and out of a refractory cylinder having a lower opening end immersed in the molten metal in a ladle, comprises operating the stirring under a condition that an inner diameter (d) of the refractory cylinder is less than 1,000 mm, a relation between the inner diameter (d, mm) of the refractory cylinder and weight (W, ton) of the molten metal in the ladle is d/W.sup.0.5 >30, and an immersed depth of the refractory cylinder is within 200-700 mm. A pressurized gas for discharging the sucked molten metal out of the cylinder is introduced thereinto in an inclined direction relative to a vertical line against a point on an opposite inner wall of the cylinder at least 500 mm above the maximum suction level of the molten metal in the cylinder.A refractory cylinder operated in the above manner according to the invention comprises a flange connection between an uppermost and an intermediate cylinder parts of the cylinder at a location higher than the maximum suction height of the molten metal and a further flange connection between the intermediate cylinder part and a lowermost cylinder part. The refractory cylinder comprises at its immersed end a flow restricting opening to obtain more strong stirring the molten metal.

摘要: A radiator grille, or ornament, includes a base material which transmits visible light and is made of an acrylic resin, a first ornamental layer coating the front surface of the base material, and a second ornamental layer coating the rear surface of the base material. The first and second ornamental layers each transmit visible light and have a thickness that is less than the wavelength of the visible light. It is preferred that the first ornamental layer and the second ornamental layer differ from each other in at least one of material, number of layers, thickness, refractive index of visible light, reflectance of visible light, absorptivity of visible light, and transmittance of visible light. The first ornamental layer is a hard coating layer, and the second ornamental layer is a hard coating layer or vapor deposition layer.
