    Abstract: A method for beamforming training is disclosed including SNR values with each of the SNR values associated with one of the antenna identifiers (IDs) in a first frame identifying different radio frequency (RF) chains for a process of beamforming training; receiving and transmitting the first frame bi-directionally between multiple pairs of communicating nodes, wherein each pair of the communicating nodes has at least one initiator node and one responder node; receiving feedback of the SNRs associated with the antenna IDs from two or more responder nodes of the multiple pairs of the communicating nodes to choose an RF chain as favorable transmit antenna for transmission; and determining respective one from the multiple antenna sectors of the multiple antennas for transmission for the responder nodes according to the feedback. A central network controller and a system are also disclosed herein.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for wireless communications for relay communication are provided. The method includes a source node sets up one or more backup relay links between the source node and a destination node that comprises a route through one or more standby relay nodes; transmits a first frame to the one or more standby relay nodes to activate the one or more standby relay nodes, transmits a second frame from the source node to the destination node informing the destination node of a switch of the relay link.     Abstract: Network signaling loads are controlled in a wireless network by monitoring traffic patterns at an access point and determining that the access point is a high turnover access point. A high turnover access point is determined based on an average time devices spend in a coverage area of the access point being below a threshold level. Beacon and/or probe response messages are generated that identify the access point as a high turnover access point. In addition, a turnover activity value may be generated for the access point and included in the beacon and/or response messages. A mobile device may determine whether to authenticate and associate with the access point based on the turnover activity value.

    Abstract: System and method embodiments are provided for differentiated fast initial link setup. The embodiments enable improved performance of initial link setup by stations in a wireless local area network during the association process and mitigate the negative effect of bursty association on existing associated users. In an embodiment, a method in a wirelessly enabled network component for differentiated fast initial link setup in a wireless local area network, includes determining categories of station types for initial link setup; determining initial link setup conditions for each station type, wherein the initial link setup conditions specify a priority of associating for each station type; and broadcasting initial link setup conditions to a plurality of stations, wherein the stations determine whether to associate with the wirelessly enabled network component immediately or after a time duration according to the station types and initial link setup conditions.
