    Abstract: According to some embodiments, a traction system is disclosed. The traction system includes a DC bus, an energy storage device coupled to the DC bus, and a voltage converter assembly coupled to the energy storage device. The voltage converter assembly includes a plurality of phase legs. The traction system further includes an electromechanical device including a plurality of windings coupled to the voltage converter assembly. The traction system also includes a switch coupled to the DC bus between the voltage converter assembly and the energy storage device. The traction system includes a controller configured to control the switch and the voltage converter assembly such that a phase leg and a winding of the electromechanical device form a DC/DC converter.

    Abstract: According to some embodiments, an electronic drive circuit is disclosed. The electronic drive circuit includes an energy storage device and a first bridge circuit coupled to the energy storage device. The first bridge circuit includes at least one leg having two switches. The electronic drive circuit also includes a transformer. The transformer includes a first winding coupled to the first bridge circuit and a second winding coupled to the energy storage device through a center tap. The electronic drive circuit further includes a second bridge circuit coupled to the second winding of the transformer. The second bridge circuit includes a pair of switches operable to conduct in both directions and block voltage in both directions. The electronic drive circuit additionally includes a DC bus coupled to the second bridge circuit and a controller, which is configured to buck or boost a DC voltage from the energy storage device to supply to the DC bus as well as buck or boost a DC voltage from the DC bus to supply to the energy storage device.

    Abstract: A magnet management method of controlling a ferrite-type permanent magnet electrical machine includes receiving and/or estimating the temperature permanent magnets; determining if that temperature is below a predetermined temperature; and if so, then: selectively heating the magnets in order to prevent demagnetization and/or derating the machine.     Abstract: A power system is provided. The power system includes: an electric machine comprising a first multiphase winding and a second multiphase winding, the first multiphase winding and the second multiphase winding being electrically opposite in phase with respect to one another; and a power converter system having: first switching elements in electric connection with the first multiphase winding and having a DC side and an AC side; second switching elements in electric connection with the second multiphase winding and having a DC side and an AC side; a plurality of capacitors coupled to the first switching elements on the DC side of the first switching elements and to the second switching elements on the DC side of the second switching elements; and a means for reducing common mode currents on the AC side of the first switching elements and on the AC side of the second switching elements.
