Abstract: A computer-assisted medical system includes robotic manipulators, a user input system operable to generate signals to control the manipulators, and a controller configured to execute instructions to perform operations. A portion of the user input system is movable relative to the plurality of manipulators. The operations include, in a pairing mode, associating a first manipulator of the plurality of manipulators with the portion of the user input system based on movement of the portion of the user input system relative to the first manipulator, and, in a following mode, controlling motion of the first manipulator in accordance with an indication generated by the user input system in response to operation of the portion of the user input system by a user.

Abstract: A computer-assisted medical system includes manipulators, a user input system, a user output system comprising a display device, and a controller configured to execute instructions to perform operations. The operations include, in a pairing mode and in response to a first set of signals generated by the user input system, causing a virtual selector shown on the display device to move relative to an imagery shown on the display device. The operations further include, in the pairing mode, associating a first manipulator with a portion of the user input system based on movement of the virtual selector relative to a represented location of the first instrument, and, in a following mode, controlling motion of the first instrument in accordance to a second set of signals generated by the user input system in response to operation of the portion of the user input system by a user.

Abstract: A camera control system may access surgical session data for a surgical session, the surgical session including performance of one or more operations by a computer-assisted surgical system. The camera control system may identify, based on the surgical session data, an event associated with the surgical session, and may determine, based on the surgical session data, a location associated with the event. In response to the determination of the location of the event, the camera control system may direct an automatic adjustment of a view of a camera to capture a specific view of the location associated with the event.

Abstract: A camera control system accesses, during a surgical session performed with a computer-assisted surgical system, surgical session data generated by the computer-assisted surgical system during the surgical session. The surgical session includes performance of one or more operations by the computer-assisted surgical system. Based on the surgical session data, the camera control system determines that an event associated with the surgical session is likely to occur and determines a location associated with the event. In response to determining the location associated with the event, the camera control system directs an automatic adjustment of a view of a camera to capture a view of the location associated with the event before the event occurs.

Abstract: Various of the disclosed embodiments provide systems and methods for coordinating actions among team members within a surgical theater, including robotic surgical theaters. For example, embodiments may create a three-dimensional model of the patient's interior, or a portion of the patient's interior, using data from an imaging device coupled to a surgical instrument. This model may then be used to facilitate more coordinated decisions among team members in the theater, such as the placement of additional laparoscopic ports. Augmented reality and virtual reality planning systems and methods availing themselves of the three-dimensional model, including “virtual dollhouse” roleplaying methods, may also facilitate team member coordination in some embodiments. Models of the surgical environment may also provide predictive analyses so as to extend the surgical team's “planning horizon.” Such predictive analytics may itself benefit from historical surgical data, including past records of patient interior model creation and planning.

Abstract: A facilitation system for facilitating remote presentation of a physical world includes a first object and an operating environment of the first object. The facilitation system includes a processing system configured to obtain an image frame depicting the physical world, identify a depiction of the first object in the image frame, and obtain a first spatial registration registering an object model with the first object in the physical world. The object model is of the first object. The processing system is further configured to obtain an updated object model corresponding to the object model updated with a current state of the first object, and generate a hybrid frame using the image frame, the first spatial registration, and the updated object model. The hybrid frame includes the image frame with the depiction of the first object replaced by a depiction of the updated object model.
