    摘要: A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member, an inner member with a wheel hub and inner ring, double row rolling elements contained between the inner member and the outer member, and; seals mounted between the outer member and the inner member. A stepped portion is formed between an inner side surface of the wheel mounting flange and its base. The stepped portion is formed with a circular arc cross-section with a predetermined radius of curvature. An annular recessed portion is formed on an inner circumference of the outer side end of the outer member. The recessed portion is arranged opposite to a corner edge of the stepped portion, via a small gap. The gap forms an annular labyrinth seal having a substantially “L” shaped cross-section.

    摘要: A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has a double row angular ball bearing including double rows of ball groups. A pitch circle diameter of the double row ball group of the outer side is larger than a pitch circle diameter of the double row ball group of the inner side. The outer member is made of medium carbon steel including carbon of 0.40˜0.80% by weight. It is hardened by high frequency induction quenching so that each of the outer raceway surfaces is formed with a hardened layer having a surface hardness of 58˜64 HRC. The effective depth of hardened layer is set at at least 2 mm. The minimum wall thickness of the outer member at these outer raceway surfaces is set at at least 4 mm.

The rolling faces (2a) are formed on the hub axle (3) and the single row inner race (5). A collar ring (6) in contact with the large ends of the tapered rollers (4) of the outboard row is provided as a flange ring (6) separate from the hub axle (3) and fitted on the hub axle (3) at a position adjacent the hub flange (10).

    摘要: To provide a wheel support bearing assembly, in which the sufficient proof strength of an inner race during assemblage onto the vehicle body can be secured without its function being lowered, the wheel support bearing assembly includes an outer member, an inner member, and rows of rolling elements interposed therebetween. The inner member includes an hub axle having a flange and an inner race on an inner race mount, with raceways defined in the hub axle and the inner race. The inner race has a counterbore at its inboard end. The hub axle has a plastically deformed portion which engages an axially oriented surface of the counterbore when radially outwardly crimped and does not protrude outwardly beyond an inboard end face of the inner race. The difference P between the inner race mount and an outer peripheral face of the plastically deformed portion is 0.13 mm or more.

    摘要: A wheel bearing apparatus incorporating a rotation speed detecting apparatus has an outer member, an inner member, double row rolling elements, a pulser ring, a cup-shaped sensor cap and a rotation speed sensor. The sensor cap is press-formed from anti-corrosion steel sheet into a cup-shaped configuration with a cylindrical fitting portion, to be press-fit into the end of the outer member, and a bottom portion, extending radially inward from the fitting portion to cover the inner-side end of the inner member. The rotation speed sensor is oppositely arranged so that it abuts or is positioned in close proximity to the bottom portion and accordingly the pulser ring. The rotation speed sensor and pulser ring oppose one another a predetermined axial air gap via the bottom portion. An elastic member is pressed and elastically deformed between the fitting portion of the sensor cap and the end of the outer member.
