Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for EPS fallback status report by the modem to the upper layers. In one embodiment, the mobile terminal (MT) initiates a 5G voice call, detects an EPSFB triggered by the wireless network, identifies one or more EPSFB status and sends one or more EPSFB status indicators to at least one upper layer based on the identified one or more EPSFB status. In one embodiment, the EPS fall back is a redirection procedure. In another embodiment, the EPS fallback is a handover procedure. In yet another embodiment, the one or more EPSFB status indictors comprising a redirection to EPS started indicator, a handover to EPS started indicator, a redirection to EPS failed indicator, a handover to EPS failed indicator, a redirection to EPS success indicator, and a handover to EPS success indicator. In one embodiment, the MT sends EPSFB status indicators using AT command.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and an apparatus for enhancement of closed access groups (CAGs). For example, the apparatus can include a non-volatile memory, receiving circuitry, transmitting circuitry and processing circuitry. The receiving circuitry can be configured to receive a configuration update command message and a registration accept message, each of which includes a CAG information list IE containing a CAG information list. The transmitting circuitry can be configured to transmit a configuration update complete message and a registration request message. The processing circuitry can be configured to store the CAG information list of the CAG information list IE in the non-volatile memory, and select a public land mobile network based on the CAG information list stored in the non-volatile memory.

Abstract: A method of maintaining a proper forbidden tracking area identifier (TAI) list is proposed. A UE receives a service area list comprising one or more allowed tracking areas. The service area list may be carried by a configuration update command. UE compares if any of the allowed tracking area having a matching TAI in the forbidden TAI list. Accordingly, UE removes any allowed tracking areas having a matching TAI from the forbidden TAI list. In one embodiment, UE sends a REGISTRATION REQUEST message to initiate a registration procedure. In response, UE receives a REGISTRATION ACCEPT message, which may also carry a service area list. UE may remove the allowed tracking area having a matching TAI from the forbidden TAI list. However, if UE is registered for emergency services, then UE shall not remove the allowed tracking area from the forbidden TAI list.

Abstract: A method of enhanced handling of a Forbidden Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) list is proposed. When a UE tries to attach to a PLMN and receives an ATTACH Reject message having no integrity protection, it could be transmitted from a network entity trying to block the PLMN for providing service. Therefore, by introducing a temporary forbidden PLMN list and a timer T3247, UE can avoid adding the PLMN ID to the Forbidden PLMN list and avoid being blocked for network access. Instead, UE is only temporary refrained from selecting the PLMN ID and is able to retry for the network access after T3247 expiry. The temporary list together with T3247 mechanism thus gives UE more opportunity to try with the same PLMN ID at a different time and/or a different UE location, where the malicious blocking is no longer available.

However, a TE does not know the timer value and the barring status. In accordance with one novel aspect, a new AT command interface that can respond timer value and barring status to the TE is proposed. It reduces wasteful retries and saves power consumption of the TE. Through the new AT command interface, the TE can query backoff timer status. Via unsolicited result code (URC), the MT can detect backoff timer status change and report updated backoff timer status to the TE.
